Having worked in two nurseries and an elementary school has taught me how children learn and develop. I have also been tutoring for three years now and have worked in a primary school helping children with academic difficulties. Creating stimulating activities and ensuring that each child gains the most of their experience in each session is my main goal. I especially appreciate using different ways of identifying problem areas and helping children to overcome them through skill building exercises and scaffolding. I have been studying child psychology since 2012, and often use the knowledge I’ve learnt from my education to provide the best tuition for each child.
I am a Psychology graduate (MSc) now working as a Young People’s Worker. My love for working with children has brought me to pursue a career in child psychology. With respect to my character, I am a kind, patient and flexible individual. It is natural for me to be able to explain concepts in different ways when students don't grasp what I've said the first time, and I always ensure that students understand the material as we move along. I have significant experience working with children of all ages and with children who have learning disabilities or difficulties. In my spare time I enjoy practicing yoga, playing piano, reading, and discovering London.
As a tutor, I try to be as flexible as possible with my students. I understand that everyone learns in different ways and has different learning styles, so I always adapt my teaching based on what I think the student will benefit from most. In general, my teaching is quite calm yet interactive. I believe that students learn best when I interact with them, probing them for answers, rather than simply explaining the material. I also like to include practical ways of learning, such as games, or using the student's hobbies as examples.
What I do when I am not tutoring
I have recently completed an MSc in Developmental Psychology and Clinical Practice at UCL. I now work as a Young People’s Worker. My goal is to complete a doctorate in clinical psychology in London.

“My daughter has told me that she is very happy with the lessons.”
“Just wanted to say we are very satisfied with the tutor Cristina Catania. Yesterday’s trial lesson was very good. Thank you very much for finding her for us so quickly.”
