Critical Thinking and Essay Writing:

I have extensive experience supporting students with critical thinking and essay writing, from GCSE to MA. I regularly run seminars introducing students to critical thinking. In these seminars, I break down the central principles of critical thinking into bite-sized practical tasks. This includes formulating an argument, suggesting relevant reading material and case studies, and helping students consider the appropriate language and writing style for their essays' context.

University Admissions:

I am familiar with the university admissions process. I have direct experience of reviewing BA applications and portfolios. I can help guide students through their UCAS applications. I am well versed in personal statement support, working with students to write an application that is specific to their chosen creative course and that communicates their unique interests and motivation successfully.

Choosing a Course:

I have considerable knowledge of a range of creative courses. I can constructively support students through choosing a course that is right for them by providing guidance on their core skills, interests, and future career aspirations.

Creative Portfolios:

As a lecturer, I often advise students on how to best present their work and develop creative portfolios. This includes best practice in terms of documentation, written reflection, and design. I can assist students in creating professional portfolios that communicate their ideas, research, and creative development with clarity and confidence.

Bespoke Classes:

As a lecturer I teach several creative disciplines and can also create bespoke classes for the needs of specific students in areas such as observational drawing, the Adobe Suite, film production, sound recording, idea generation, and more.

Biography

I hold a first-class BA from Central Saint Martins and an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art, and I am currently undertaking an HE teaching fellowship.

I am an associate lecturer on the MA Architecture program at Oxford Brookes (0.2) University and an occasional visiting lecturer at Camberwell College of Art (BA Sculpture), where I deliver one-off workshops. Since 2023, I have also taught the UCA Integrated Foundation program, where I work with students in film, performing arts, media, and animation, helping them build confidence, explore creative pathways, and develop transferable skills.

I also have substantial experience supporting younger learners. I deliver outreach workshops in secondary schools. At the BFI, I ran a Saturday film club and holiday activities. I have delivered short creative courses for Little Makers Cineclub and The LightBox Gallery. In addition, I have also worked in primary education as an English foreign language teacher.

Previously, I worked for the University of Westminster/Aim Higher, where I coordinated an outreach school ambassador scheme aimed at helping students with specific learning differences access university.

I am a practicing visual artist; my work combines installation, performance and film. As a self-shooter, I have extensive experience working with cameras, sound, and post-production.

Approach to Tutoring

I aim to shape my teaching to the needs and backgrounds of my students, balancing clear structure with space for experimentation. I consider myself patient and energetic. I actively design sessions that encourage participation, discussion, and confidence-building. I want my student to take the most from our time together, and I seek to create an environment that is both fun and informative.

When not tutoring

In 2025, I completed an artist residency and exhibition in Budapest, focusing on film and installation. The work I created explores the relationship between human activity and ecological change. I have a strong interest in improvised theatre and regularly attend performance workshops.
