I have been tutoring students in Maths, Science and in preparation for School Entrance Exams at a range of levels from primary school all the way up to A-Level for the last 8 years. I have tutored many of my students in a very focussed way in the lead up to their respective external exams, ensuring understanding of content, the ability to apply knowledge to new settings and embedding exam technique. I have also had many students in which the focus has been much more on increased confidence and engagement within the subject.

Many of my students have been with me for a number of years and I pride myself on the relationships I am able to foster with my students, allowing them to gain newfound confidence within their abilities to learn, problem solve and question, as well as achieve in exam settings.

Over the last year, in terms of my external-exam-taking students, I aided a year 6 student to achieve 92% in their Maths SATs in Year 6, one of my students made huge progress going from a 3 to a 7 in their Physics GCSE and the other two GCSE students gained 9s in their Maths and Physics GCSEs.

Biography

I was born and raised in South London where I completed all of my schooling. I went to Graveney School, the most competitive state school in the borough, where I attained A-Levels in Maths (A*), Further Maths (A), Physics (A) and Chemistry (A) and an AS in Biology (A). I went on to study Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London where I gained my Masters Degree, attaining a 2:1 grade. Since then I have been tutoring part-time in Maths, Physics and Entrance Exams (both theory and strategy) whilst working in Tech and consulting for various firms. Currently, I am training to become a Data Engineer.

Approach to Tutoring

I am a fun and encouraging tutor and pride myself on making maths and science not only accessible but enjoyable and exciting for my students. I use visual learning and anecdotes in order to reinforce learning and make it more relatable and relevant for my students. Through my multiple years of tutoring experience I am now adept at quickly identifying misconceptions and plugging gaps in knowledge in order to improve attainment and confidence as soon as possible. I frame my lessons around the exam specifications and past exam questions in order to ensure learning is focussed. I also place focus on developing the necessary skills for completing exam papers to ensure my students not only know the content and how to apply it, but also how to perform to the highest level on an entire exam paper.

When not tutoring

I am currently a part-time online tutor while studying to be a Data Engineer. I have a passion for Maths, whether that be using it for my work or teaching it to others and so love to share this in any capacity with those around me. All of my work is remote, giving me the flexibility to travel with my partner around the UK and other parts of the world. Other than tutoring and coding I love to read, cook and watch anime in my spare time. I am currently reading ''17 equations that changed the world'' as well as ''House of Dragons'' from the Game of Thrones world, Mohammed Salah's biography (I'm a massive Liverpool fan) and the prequel to the Hunger Games series. In terms of cooking, I love to experiment with flavours, whether it be in stews, soups or curries but my real passion is baking - my most recent sticky toffee pudding cake was a real hit with my family and friends!
