I have over 15 years’ experience teaching IB Mathematics at all levels, as well as iGCSE and A-level. I have supported students preparing for university entrance, including STEP and similar examinations. In addition to classroom teaching, I have held leadership responsibilities as Second in Department with oversight of Key Stage 3 in two schools, contributing extensively to curriculum and assessment design. Most recently I played a key role in designing and delivering the world’s first fully online IB Diploma Programme delivering both strands of IB Maths at both levels online. Beyond mathematics, I have taught Theory of Knowledge and served as Extended Essay Coordinator for five years, giving me in-depth knowledge of the Diploma Programme’s core components.

Biography

I was born in England but raised in Wales, amidst the mountains and beautiful scenery of Snowdonia. I enjoyed school and always had a particular affinity for Rugby and Mathematics, choosing to pursue the latter at University. Following up my degree with a PGCE and Masters in Education led me to teaching, which I did for a brief stint in Japan, a few years in Oxfordshire and then 10 years in International schools in Hong Kong. I've always enjoyed experiencing new cultures and have been fortunate enough to travel fairly widely. Since moving back to the UK in 2021 I have been working as a private tutor and as a leader of learning developing the world's first online-only IB Diploma Programme.

Approach to Tutoring

I am passionate about sharing my love of Mathematics with my students, creating opportunities for them to explore and marvel at its wonders for themselves. I excel at breaking down complex concepts into clear, accessible explanations, while creating an environment where students feel free to make mistakes and learn from them. I build positive working relationships with students that encourage curiosity, resilience, and a deeper understanding of mathematics.

When not tutoring

When not tutoring you can probably either find me in my shed or playing a boardgame with a nice cup of tea!
