I have been a teacher and tutor since 2004, holding a range of teaching positions and senior leadership positions in schools throughout that time. I have worked in state and private schools in the UK and abroad teaching a variety of subjects during that time.
I specialise in teaching GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics, A-Level and GCSE Computer Science, and the 11+ for Maths.
During the time I have been a teacher, my students have always made excellent progress achieving a very high standard of results when compared to their Cambridge CEM (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring) results.
I have tutored and taught students for early entry, most recently teaching three students for early entry Cambridge IGCSE all of whom achieved an A*.
My wealth of experience as a teacher means that I am able clearly identify areas for improvement and then develop strategies that will help support that student to make excellent progress.
Having been raised in Southsea, I attended St Johns College for my primary and secondary education taking A Levels in Computer Science, History, and Politics. I attended Westminster University to complete my Computer Science degree where I attained a 2:1.
After my degree, I taught voluntarily in Inuvik in the North West Territories of Canada before returning to complete my Post-Graduate Certificate of Education at Chichester University.
I have been working as a teacher and tutor since 2004 in schools in the UK and abroad and since 2017 also write examination papers for a professional management company.
My experience as a teacher has shown me that to ensure all students make progress, it is necessary to teach in a manner that interests and motivates them.
I am able to adjust my style of teaching to suit each student, making the topics being taught interesting and engaging. I make excellent use of questioning to make sure that a student has fully understood a concept. I am patient in my approach and am able to give clear and precise feedback to help a student to progress.
For the past two years, I have been working as the 'Assistant Principal for Data' at a college in Bucharest, where I have also taught Maths and Computer Science. I am now returning to the UK to tutor full-time.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing chess, running and seeing new places.
''Ben is a great tutor. He was very patient with our son in helping him to develop his maths during the time he was in year 9 and then during his GCSEs. He is able to explain maths in a simple way, asking questions that helped to build up our son's confidence in each topic.'' (Mother of 16 year old)
