I have been tutoring children in London for over ten years in many subjects, well over three thousand hours. I now focus on History and Business Studies (GCSE to university), Economics (GCSE to A-Level), and Maths (GCSE). I am an examiner for History with the AQA, OCR, and Cambridge International Exam Boards. For students interested in getting accepted to Oxford History take notice that I marked the HAT exams at Oxford in 2018 and 2019. I also sat in on interviews so I know first hand what they look for in a candidate.
I am finishing my Ph.D. in History at Oxford (Balliol College) this summer. My first career was as a solicitor. I attended top Canadian universities and earned an undergraduate degree in Commerce, an MBA in Finance & Marketing, and then a Law degree (LLB). My passion has always been to teach and I decided to leave law to return to studies with the goal of becoming a full-time teacher. I do my best to engage my students and know how to make learning enjoyable, meaningful, and effective.
I understand that each student is different and teaching methods have to be adapted to suit the individual. I search for the student's strengths and weaknesses and do my best to bring out the best in each. As a father of five adult girls, I know the challenges that a parent faces when looking for academic improvement in their children. Breaking down the barriers to comprehension and making the learning experience fun and rewarding is how I approach teaching.
What I do when I am not tutoring
I am expecting to submit my thesis in October. My research is focused on English medieval history and the architectural history of parish churches. I enjoy traveling throughout England, Europe, and North America. I am also an avid reader and enjoy a wide array of subjects from biographies to English literature. I also enjoy spending time with my family.
