I have been tutoring children in London for ten years in many subjects, well over one thousand hours. I now focus on History and Business Studies (GCSE to university) and Economics (GCSE to A-Level). I am an examiner for History with the OCR and Cambridge International Exam Boards. I marked the HAT exam at Oxford in 2018 and 2019.
I am now pursuing a PhD in history at Oxford (Balliol College) after a twenty-year career as a solicitor. I have four degrees to date: Bachelor of Commerce, MBA, LLB, and an MA (History). I was first a solicitor in Canada and in 2010 became licensed in England. My passion has always been to teach and decided to leave law to return to studies with the goal of becoming a full-time teacher. I do my best to engage my students and know how to deal with children myself a father of five adult girls.
I understand that each student is different and teaching methods have to be adapted to suit the individual. I search for the student's strengths and weaknesses and do my best to bring out the best in each. As a father of five girls, I know the challenges that a parent faces when looking for academic improvement in their children. Breaking down the barriers to comprehension and making the learning experience fun and rewarding is how I approach teaching.
I am a part-time student in my final year of PhD studies at Balliol College, Oxford. I am pursuing my passion of English medieval history and focusing on the architectural history of parish churches. When I am not working on my studies or teaching I enjoy travelling throughout England, Europe and North America. I am also an avid reader and enjoy a wide array of subjects from biographies to English literature. I also enjoy spending time with my family.
