In an academic context, I have designed and delivered a large number of seminars and tutoring sessions in the Humanities, especially in Philosophy, English and Comparative Literature, Psychology and Italian. Having years of experience of university teaching means that I am particularly familiar with the most suitable ways to help students with study skills, motivation, exam preparation and university admission tests. For example, I recently constructed a bespoke study plan to prepare a student for his admission to the University of Oxford (personal statement, MLAT, interview preparation, A-level), an application which he was happily successful in. I enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds and I have a rich multidisciplinary experience of tutoring and homeschooling which include 11+ (for example, English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning), 13+, GCSE (English, History, Italian, Latin, Classical Civilisation), A-level (English, Literature, History, Italian, Psychology, Religious Studies, Latin, Philosophy), IB. I relish challenging teaching contexts; my parallel training in psychotherapy has helped me a lot in this respect! As a recent example, I managed the A-level preparation (History and Psychology) for identical twins who were being homeschooled due to social problems they were having at school.

I was born and raised in Northern Italy, Milan, where I spent most of my childhood. At 18, I started playing football professionally, for five years. Meanwhile, I completed a BA in Literature and Philosophy at the Catholic University of Milan and published a book in Italian on the Latin poet Lucretius. At 23, I moved to London, where I completed an MA at UCL in Comparative Literature and a PhD in History of Psychology, again at UCL, whilst intensively working as a tutor.
I have been a tutor and an academic teacher for the past five years, having been consistently tutoring whilst completing my PhD at UCL. My tailor-made tutoring varies from successfully assisting students on a 1-on-1 basis with their lessons, exams, pre-tests, and homeschooling, to academic teaching and supervising, both individually and in groups. I strongly believe that tutoring creates a unique space of support and improvement that can be more stimulating than any other learning environment. My lessons are inspired by three core values: patience, passion, and creativity.
Besides tutoring every day, I am currently working on the publication of my PhD as a book for Routledge. Meanwhile, I am also completing training in Jungian psychotherapy at the Society of Analytical Psychology in London. When I am not working, I spend my free time playing sports and staying outdoors as much as possible: I’m particularly fond of climbing and mountain sports. As a former athlete, I simply know that without my daily dosage of sport, I lose it!
"Tommaso has tutored my 18-year-old son over the last six months helping him prepare for his ‘A’ level Italian and also his university application to read Italian and French which resulted in him being offered a place at Oxford University.
Tommaso has been a very diligent, flexible and highly competent tutor. My son has thoroughly enjoyed his lessons and really appreciated Tommaso going the extra mile to make sure he had covered all the necessary material. My husband and I have very much enjoyed having Tommaso’s friendly and kind personality in our house."

"I can gladly say that I highly recommend Tommaso Priviero as a candidate for employment. I am a parent of two secondary school children (15 -Y10 and 12 - Y7). Tommaso started tutoring my daughter about 6 months ago in preparation for her Italian GCSE which we decided to take a year in advance.
Tommaso came across as a friendly, responsible and professional person, he establishes a straightforward tutor/student relationship based on the perfect balance between authority and an easy-going approach. We are still in the middle of the Italian GSCE exam process but my daughter who previously had not wanted to do the exam, thanks to Tommaso, she has now become very confident in her knowledge and will have a positive result.
Lately, Tommaso has started to also tutor my son in English and Math to build up his self-confidence and become more independent in his learning. My son has always been very reticent to tutoring but Tommaso makes my son look forward to his lesson, which as a parent is a massive relief.
I have no doubt Tommaso would be a tremendous asset for his next task and we couldn’t recommend him highly enough."
(Roberta, mother of GCSE and Year 7 English and Maths students)
