They cover exams including 7+, 8+ and Common Entrance school entrance tests as well as GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, IB and Pre-U. Many of the English tutors we match with students are current or former teachers and many have studied English at top universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
We can provide English tuition tailored to specific public exams, including:
We help to improve exam performance by making use of past English papers, reinforcing core learning, developing revision techniques, and helping students to push the boundaries of their knowledge of English to differentiate themselves from fellow students.
GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature students will need a solid grounding in a wide range of authors and texts. The English tutors we represent will help your child develop a fluent knowledge of the appropriate methods and concepts, and maximise their ability to communicate their knowledge fluently in a range of different contexts. We aim to build up your child’s confidence, speed, and accuracy under pressure in English, equipping them to excel at GCSE level.
The English tutors we work with can help your child across all areas of the IGCSE English curricula across these two qualifications. Each of these IGCSE exams provides an excellent foundation for further study in English, and the tutors we represent will help your child take full advantage of this, reinforcing the key concepts and preparing them to perform well under examination conditions.
IB English Language and Literature, and IB English Literature are both challenging qualifications, covering a broad range of authors and time periods, including poetry, drama, and prose. Our English tutors will help your child to gain a deeper understanding of the subject, develop their skills at close reading, and communicate their knowledge successfully in an exam context.
A Levels in both these subjects are well respected qualifications suitable for many future career paths, and students have to master a wide range of complex topics to succeed. Our English tutors are able to focus in on those areas where your child needs additional support, help them demonstrate their knowledge effectively under time pressure, and ultimately prepare them to perform strongly in these key exams.
The ELAT is designed to help whittle down the number of students moving on to interview stage, and as such are rigorous and competitive examinations.
