I’m a 4th year medical student at Imperial College London, with over 5 years of tutoring experience.

Originally from West Wales, I sat my GCSEs in 2021 in a combination of English and Welsh, achieving 11A*s (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Numeracy, English Literature, English Language, Welsh Language, Computer Science, History, and Religious Studies). In 2022, I sat the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) and Biomedical Sciences Admissions Test (BMAT), scoring in the top 9% and top 6% of candidates that year, respectively. In 2023, I achieved 4A*s at A Level (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics).

Later in 2023, I began my medical degree at Imperial College London, where I am about to begin my 4th year in order to achieve my first degree (iBSc in Cancer Frontiers), before graduating from medical school in 2029 with an MBBS alongside this.

During my time as a tutor, I have taken a holistic approach to teaching. My experience has shown me the best way to support students is to tailor each session to them as individuals. This is why I like to get to know my students and their guardians - to fully understand their goals, ability, strengths, and weaknesses. I am also keen to get regular feedback from students and parents in order to understand what is particularly helpful or unhelpful for my students.

I have cultivated a large number of teaching resources throughout my time as a tutor, and I regularly use these depending on my students’ needs. These include:

- Pre- and post-session reading

- Practice questions

- Mock exams

- Annotated notes

- Lecture-style PowerPoints

Alongside these resources, I utilise proven study techniques in my session, and support my students in adopting these in their day-to-day life. I’m particularly fond of the Feynman technique, where students learn a topic and then attempt to teach it to someone else. Not only does this improve active recall, it also allows me to see where there are gaps in their knowledge.

Although I have a number of go-to resources and teaching techniques, ultimately the student knows themselves and their learning style best, and I will always prioritise what my student feels is best for them.

As a medical student, I spend a large amount of my free time studying, conducting research, or attending conferences. Outside of this, I engage with many of my university societies. I have been a committee member for our Raising and Giving society for 2 years, aiding in raising over £55,000 for charity. I also take part in a number of academic societies, including the Pathology society, which I will be chairing for the second year in a row, alongside community and activist societies.

I am an avid netball player, and enjoy watching a number of sports, with rugby being my favourite. I love reading and educating myself on new topics.
