Originally from Jersey in the Channel Islands, I studied English Literature and French before beginning my teaching career in London in 2011. I taught at a leading international school in Central London for 15 years and held multiple positions, including Head of English and Head of GCSE. For the last two years I have been in post as Head of English at a leading preparatory school in Sussex, where I continue to work with pupils across a wide range of ages and abilities; helping them to make progress and achieve their highest potential in the ISEB 11+ and Common Entrance examinations.

I am an experienced English specialist with over 15 years of teaching, leadership, examining and tutoring experience, helping students of all abilities build confidence and achieve exceptional results.

My expertise spans Key Stage 1 through to A Level, with particular strengths in GCSE English Language and Literature, entrance examination preparation, and supporting high-achieving students aiming for the very top grades. I also teach Mathematics up to Year 7 and prepare pupils for the 7+, 8+ and 11+ entrance examinations, including Verbal Reasoning.

As a former Head of English in two schools and a Lead Practitioner for English at Key Stages 4 and 5, I have spent many years developing outstanding teaching, mentoring colleagues and designing ambitious, engaging curricula. I have also worked as a GCSE English examiner for a national examination board, giving me valuable insight into exactly what examiners are looking for and how students can maximise their marks.

Alongside my school leadership roles, I have tutored extensively, both independently and through established tutoring agencies. I have successfully supported students preparing for entrance examinations, GCSEs, A Levels and university pathways, including designing alternative pre-university courses for international students.

Every lesson is carefully planned around the individual student. I quickly identify strengths and areas for development, then create a clear, structured programme that builds knowledge, develops exam technique and increases confidence. My teaching is calm, encouraging and challenging in equal measure. I believe students make the greatest progress when they understand why they are learning something, not simply how to answer a particular question.

Whether a student needs to improve confidence, close gaps in learning, prepare for selective school entrance, or secure the highest GCSE grades, I provide tailored tuition that is both supportive and academically rigorous. My aim is not only to improve results but also to help students become thoughtful, independent learners who enjoy the subject and leave each lesson feeling motivated and capable.

Every child's journey is different, but my goal is always the same: to help each student develop the knowledge, confidence and resilience needed to perform at their very best on the day.

I am currently completing the NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership) to enhance my educational leadership skills further.

When I am not tutoring, I enjoy spending time by the sea and exploring new places with my two cockapoos.
