Over the years I have had lots of short positions as an intern, assistant, research assistant, tutor, entrepreneur, accountant and researcher. Most notable being my research experience as I have two papers under preparation and review for publication. Most recently, taught full time at The King's School Canterbury as a resident tutor and teacher of Economics and Maths. I am now completing an MPhil in Economics at Oxford University.

The main differences in my tutoring and teaching approach to most others is my triad focus on cultivating interest, extensive analogies and a centring of my teaching on the syllabus.

Interest in a subject is often the greatest differentiator for success. Interest leads to effort in learning, helps with the retention of information and motivates extra-curricular engagement.

Analogies and applying theory to many different contexts often helps students to understand concepts better than any wordy definition can. The ability to apply concepts learned to entirely new scenarios is often the simplest, and most effective way to see that a concept is understood.

Many students don't even know what exam board they are sitting, let alone the details of the syllabus for their subject. Having learning structured around a wider academic context, so students see exactly where everything fits together is incredibly important to both structuring learning and motivating it.

I am a full time MPhil Economics student, so there's a lot of work that goes into that. In my free time to decompress, I play chess, watch TV and train in powerlifting.
