In addition, I am an A level Examiner for A Level Business (AQA and Edexcel)
After completing my MA in US Government and Politics I progressed onto a PGCE at the Institute of Education, University of London. I taught at the University of Westminster on the final year of the BA Business Studies before taking up the post as Senior Lecturer in Business at a London College. I was appointed Head of School of Business in 1997 and, subsequently, in 2004, as Director of Curriculum for Academic and Vocational Studies at one of the largest colleges in the UK. Over time I have taught on a range of courses from GCSE up to Undergraduate level as well as fulfilling a number of roles with Pearson, the examination body.
I am very passionate about Business Studies. I am able to encourage, motivate and to instil a love of learning in my students. I am very aware of the requirements of the different examining bodies, how the curriculum is best organised and what students need to do to maximise their grades through applying the appropriate techniques. I also understand how to support and engage students with a wide range of different needs and abilities and how to adapt tutoring to cater for each individual. My aim throughout is for students to be confident learners in a supportive environment, helping them achieve their goals.
What I do when I am not tutoring
Cycling around London on my bike, watching live football and following cricket at Lords. Keeping an open mind to new ideas and experiences, critical at all ages.
''Jeff was a real find and gave X huge amounts of confidence in her own ability. He has a very engaging style and quickly developed an excellent working relationship with my daughter. His approach was always very professional. X achieved an A* in her Business Studies and Jeff played a key role in helping her achieve this fantastic grade. As a result of her success, she will be attending the University of Manchester in September.'' (Father of A Level student)
''Jeff had a very good understanding of business and of the requirements of the examination in all four papers that X needed to complete for the A Level exams. He was very good at structuring his work to cover those topics that X had missed during periods of illness. He was also very supportive of re-arranging tutorials for when we were on holiday and needed to give X a break. When it was appropriate Jeff focused on exam practice building up to the exam so that X was well prepared for the June sittings. Finally, Jeff was very punctual and was always there for his tutorial throughout the time.'' (Mother of A level student)
''I have just got my A Level results back and I got an A in business!! I just wanted to say thank you so much for helping me boost up my grades so much, you were such a great tutor.'' (A Level Business student)
''I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ for your help in the past two years in helping me through my Business lessons and preparing me for my A level exams. I am very happy to say that I got an A*AA, and (A* in Business). I will be attending my first choice university - the University of St. Andrews! Thank you so much for your guidance and support!'' (A level Business student)
''When our son went up to University, Jeff helped him develop his skills as an independent learner and above all, he taught my son how to take on all of the challenges that his university degree threw at him. Jeff was always entirely professional and was able to balance between challenging and supporting our son throughout. Jeff’s knowledge at both A Level and Undergraduate degree level for a Russell Group University was outstanding and he was able to help to provide answers to all of the challenges and projects that were thrown at our son throughout the degree period.'' (Father of Business Degree student)
