I hold a First-Class undergraduate degree in History from the University of Sussex and a Master’s degree in History from King’s College London. My academic background has given me strong skills in communication, critical thinking, and clear explanation, which I enjoy using to support younger learners. I am passionate about making learning engaging, approachable, and enjoyable for all students, particularly at the primary level.

Having taught across KS1 2 and 3, I understand how important it is to meet students where they are and help them feel confident from the start. My experience preparing children for SATs and the 11+ means I know the curriculum, the pressure points and the skills that make the biggest difference over time. I focus first on building a positive relationship so pupils feel comfortable asking questions and taking risks in their learning. In my English lessons, I help students become familiar with the advanced texts they will be expected to comprehend from the outset. I believe no student ever stops learning how to plan an essay or a creative-writing assignment effectively, so many of my lessons use mind-mapping and place real value on a good plan. I also place strong emphasis on praise and recognising achievement, helping students see their progress and build steady confidence in their abilities.

Outside of tutoring, I’m currently taking a course in data analytics, which has been a great way to strengthen my analytical and problem-solving skills. I also volunteer with a small leukodystrophy charity, supporting their corporate fundraising work and helping them think about how to target potential partners more effectively.

Most of my time, though, is spent enjoying life with my wife and my young son. When we get the chance, we love going hiking, exploring local parks and forests, and playing tennis and football together. Being outdoors and staying active helps me recharge and bring fresh energy back into my teaching.
