Anna

Anna is a motivating and collaborative tutor who helps students build confidence in order to achieve their academic goals. She specialises in preparing pupils for 7+, 8+, and 11+ entrance examinations, as well as teaching humanities subjects and supporting students with Oxbridge admissions preparation.

* Younger students: I find building confidence is the foundation of any healthy learning atmosphere. I try to make the sessions enjoyable with humour and games. I also foster the idea that the student is only competing against their previous test scores.

* Older students: I want them to find more independence in their learning. I will assess which areas of the curriculum they are currently weaker in and will go over those meticulously in a collaborative and encouraging way. I want my students to feel pride in their work, push themselves for excellence, and feel the sense of achievement from making tangible progress.

Biography

I am originally from Sydney, Australia and moved to the UK for my undergraduate degree at the University of Oxford, where I studied PPE. I recently completed a Masters in Classical Acting at LAMDA.

I also have considerable experience in the finance industry, having completed internships at JP Morgan, the Reserve Bank of Australia, Macquarie Bank and most recently at the hedge fund Andurand Capital.

I have worked as a tutor for 10 years alongside my studies. I have tutored English, Maths, Economics, German, Drama and Oxbridge Applications from personal statement to interview, including for international students.

Most recently I have tutored primarily students aged 9-13, preparing them for various school entrance examinations.

Approach to Tutoring

I believe in fostering a student's self-motivation, as ultimately that is what drives real progress. I engage with my students' passions and interests outside of their studies to build a strong working relationship.

Closer to exam periods, I collaborate with students in devising revision schedules and discussing stress management techniques.

I have also extensive experience working with younger students and those with learning differences. I understand the importance of catering lessons to the needs of each student and am always open to parents' instructions.

When not tutoring

I have recently completed my MA in Classical Acting at LAMDA. I am based in London and will remain here for the next few years. I have a passion for English literature and also write plays and films.
