I began tutoring informally while I was taking my GCSEs in 2010. I found subjects much easier than my peers, so I began to teach those around me. This is where I initially developed a passion for teaching, and it inspired my school to introduce a program where older students could tutor younger students in a more structured fashion. Alongside this and outside of school, I offered private tutoring sessions to GCSE, and later A-Level students.
I feel strongly that learning should be enjoyable and instil a sense of confidence, accomplishment and self-esteem, as well as teaching self-discipline and self-motivation. My aim is to help the student receive a deep level of personal attention and encouragement from their tutor.
I continually research new teaching methods/techniques/tricks that will help my students find new pathways to successful learning (and remembering all those important exam techniques and information!) If something does not work with a student, I make sure to find a better way of working that will suit them.
I can easily gauge students’ capabilities and am able to quickly assess weak points and help with building confidence as well as self esteem. I focus on identifying and targeting weaknesses and building on strengths.
I have been teaching Science, English and Maths at GCSE standard for over 8 years and I also teach Computer Science and Geography. I have over 9 years’ experience of private tuition and have supported students for Edexcel, WJEC, OCR and AQA exam boards. Having amassed over 15,000 hours, I can support almost any scenario - SEN; enforced Gap Year / re-take / improving grades; re-starting after ill health; moving school; home study.
I have been working on the US Curriculum every year for the past 4 years now. This experience has given me a clear insight into the structure of their syllabus which is backed by up-to-date resources I have been taught. I follow Bloom’s Taxonomy to help them apply, analyze, and evaluate complex mathematical problems in order to analyze real-world problems and create logical solutions. The ultimate goal is for students to be able to flow seamlessly between all strata of guidelines to achieve mastery over introductory high school math topics.

I have been primarily focusing on Mathematics, Business Studies, all 3 Sciences and Computer Science for over 9 years. I have tutored for 7, 8, 10 & 11+ preparation, GCSE and A level students. I believe in simplifying and structuring seemingly complex and overwhelming tasks, approaching them in a way that demystifies the learning process and empowers the student. A tutor teaches their student how to learn, how to structure their thought processes and tackle a task by breaking it down into manageable steps - and how to confidently structure and communicate their thoughts under exam conditions.

I feel strongly that learning should be enjoyable, building a sense of confidence, accomplishment and self-esteem, as well as teaching self-discipline and self-motivation. My main objective is to teach my student how to learn, how to structure their thought processes and tackle a task by breaking it down into manageable steps - and how to confidently structure and communicate their thoughts under exam conditions.
I believe that the one-to-one environment of private tuition allows me to nourish and develop students' capabilities, grown outside of the classroom, realising their full potential. I advocate a Socratic approach to learning – one in which the teacher encourages the student to use their own initiative and mind to seek answers and find solutions. Having a flexible teaching approach is where the student receives a deep level of personal attention and encouragement from their tutor.
I am passionate about learning and create a nurturing, stimulating, fun and warm environment for my students. It's important to me that they feel confident and relaxed, and be unafraid to take risks and make mistakes. Each child I work with is an individual and I pay attention to their personalities and learning habits, making sure they receive exactly the kind of support and encouragement they need to do their very best.
As an online tutor, I take a personalized approach to each student's learning needs and preferences. I believe that the use of digital whiteboards and other interactive tools can bring online lessons to life and enhance the learning experience. I make use of various tactics such as visual aids, animations, and interactive quizzes to make the lessons engaging and interactive. I also tailor my lessons to the individual student, focusing on their unique strengths, weaknesses, and interests. By taking a student-centered approach, I am able to help my students feel more engaged and motivated in their studies. Overall, my goal is to provide a dynamic and interactive learning environment that helps students to fully grasp the subject matter and achieve their academic goals.
My teaching style is simplicity above all, and I take a lot of inspiration from the quote “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough”. My primary focus is to foster a love of learning in the pupils I support and arm them with the learning tools and strategies to flourish independently, without creating a dependence on myself. I am a passionate educator who can transmit information in an engaging and creative way, bespoke to a child’s learning style and interests. Building confidence, resilience and a ‘can-do attitude’ is at the heart of my tutoring philosophy.
As well as being a tutor for Keystone, I am a Software Engineer and Solutions Consultant. I regularly read and spend time working on AI and how it can revolutionise our day to day activities. I now work at Adobe Systems consulting clients on how to use the right software for their business.
When not in front of a screen, I love going to the gym and taking up sports. I mainly play badminton but also love hiking and running and will seize any opportunity I can to go on an adventure. Furthermore I play the Indian drum (Dhol) internationally catering for weddings, birthdays, corporate events.
"I have found Rishi to be a very amiable and courteous individual as well as a respectful and patient teacher, who is able to effectively identify my particular weaknesses and act accordingly. He also clearly plans and structures the content of sessions beforehand and I am confident that his actions are part of a wider long term development plan. Our lessons generally involve me attempting various types of mathematical, spatial and verbal reasoning questions, with input from Rishi as required. I find his teaching style to be very balanced in that he consistently insists that I endeavour to work out the answer myself before informing me and telling me the appropriate steps to take. He also highlights that, in order for me to make genuine and meaningful improvement, we have to work together effectively and often consults me on my thoughts regarding our sessions. He also consistently emphasises the importance of my working outside of sessions and frequently requests updates as to my progress in this area." (Mature student who needed help preparing for a cognitive ability assessment)
''Thank you for stepping in and teaching our Computer Science lessons. We know that it might not have been easy teaching us in the evening when we were tired! Your lessons were great and the mix of theory and practical skills were really enjoyable. We all came away from our lessons knowing far more about the subject and the exam. You are also a very friendly and supportive teacher which made the lessons really productive. We really enjoyed meeting you and want to thank you again for dedicating your time to teaching us.'' (AS Group Class)
''Rishi is a wonderful Computer Science Tutor. I came to him when I was stuck on a project at University and as I was in my final year, he was able to tailor all lessons to me and help create a website using Javascript, Java, PHP and SQL. The task was completed in perfect order and Rishi was helping me every step of the way, explaining the code and what is does. I would definitely recommend Rishi to help in any Computer Science related work you may struggle with.'' (Undergraduate Student)
''I would like to recommend Rishi to anyone who is looking to prepare their child for 7+ exams preparation. Rishi supported my child in the subject of English as he was struggling in it. Rishi was very thorough in the concepts that he taught and always provided him with useful resources to practice at home. My son will now be attending Haberdashers.'' (Mother of 7+ Student)
''Rishi is one of the most dedicated, hardworking and experienced tutor I have ever encountered in my life. My daughter is preparing for her 11 plus and grammar entry exams, I have seen a massive improvement in her verbal, non-verbal, English and Maths. He is also a compassionate, kind, honest and will give you a full analysis on your child's strength and weakness in just one lesson. For these reasons, I highly recommend Rishi to be the best 11 plus tutor. She will now be attending NLCS.'' (Mother of 11+ Student)
''Rishi has has been an amazing and wonderful teacher. He has given lots of support and has encouraged my son to get into a grammar school. He always made learning fun in a whole new level and is my son's idol as well as mentor. ''Rishi was an excellent tutor to me for my GCSE's. He helped me with Maths, English and Science. Rishi is a very good tutor as he pushed me further and further every week. Rishi is very polite and always on time. I highly recommend Rishi as a tutor as he helped me get the grades that I wanted. '' (GCSE Student)
''Rishi has been helping me to prepare for the cognitive aptitude based element of the British Army’s Officer Selection Board process. Though other tutors are able to offer insights into numerous other elements of this process, Rishi is a genuine asset to Keystone in that he has genuine knowledge and expertise of this particular element of process which is subject to secrecy and with which I have found others unable to meaningfully assist when it comes to effective improvement.
I have found Rishi to be a very amiable and courteous individual as well as a respectful and patient teacher, who is able to effectively identify my particular weaknesses and act accordingly. He also clearly plans and structures the content of sessions beforehand and I am confident that his actions are part of a wider long term development plan.'' - AOSB Student
