I was born in Ghana and grew up internationally, living in Kenya and Denmark, which gave me a bilingual, cross-cultural upbringing. I attended Edgehill College, an independent girls’ secondary school in Bideford, North Devon, before completing A Levels in Politics, English and History at Tottenham Technical College in London.

I gained a 2:1 degree in Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Radio Journalism at City, University of London. I completed the CELTA teaching certificate (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at International House in London in 2014 and have tutored since.

I worked for 20 years in senior corporate communications across global finance, strategic communications and research-based writing. I also spent 15 years as a radio and television journalist (reporter, producer and director) for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. I am a published author on communication, leadership and organisational effectiveness, and a commissioned writer for Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

My passion for education has been constant throughout my career. After four years as a full-time senior writer for a global finance and accounting firm, I chose to focus on tutoring and joined Keystone as a tutor.

My tutoring is methodical, calm and highly personalised. I believe that thoughtful preparation and strong rapport with my tutee are central to every successful lesson. I work to break down complex theories and challenging reading into clear, manageable steps. My aim is to help students move from a potential superficial level of understanding to confident, independent analysis.

I place particular emphasis on analytical depth, independent thinking and well structured arguments, rather than memorising information without understanding it. I support learners with timed exam questions, extended research projects and dissertations, helping them plan, explain and write with clarity.

I teach essay structure by giving each person I work with a clear roadmap. We begin with the question — what is it really asking — and build a structure around argument, evidence and explanation. I use frameworks such as Point–Evidence–Analysis for paragraphing and model how to craft effective introductions and conclusions. Many students tell me they feel relieved when they realise that structure is a skill, not a mystery.

I also use tailored metaphors and analogies to bring discussions to life, encouraging enquiry, clarity and strong storytelling. Some tutees arrive feeling overwhelmed or unsure how to organise their ideas. My role is to make complex topics accessible and create a supportive space where imagination, curiosity and creativity can grow.

I am a full time tutor. When I am not tutoring, I am a member of a national choir that sings gospel, classical and contemporary music, which keeps me vocally and musically engaged. I enjoy the theatre and arts and write poetry.

I am keen on nature walks and have completed a couple of marathon treks for charity.

I travelled round the world for a year — an experience that strengthened my belief in the transformative power of education and the importance of cross cultural understanding.
