My teaching journey began in the state sector in Mansfield before I transitioned to the independent sector in 2010. Most recently, I spent several years at St Mary’s Ascot, one of the UK’s leading boarding schools, before moving into international education in Rome in 2023.

Throughout my career I have taught and tutored many specifications. For GCSE this has principally been Edexcel IGCSE, for which I am also an examiner, but also CIE and AQA. My A Level experience is most comprehensive in Edexcel IAL, IB DP (Higher) and OCR A Level, but I have also tutored other specifications including Edexcel A (Salters-Nuffield) and CAIE. I am able to provide my students with the ''examiner's perspective'' that makes the difference needed to achieve top results.

I am very proud that both my in-school and tutoring students have gone on to achieve their goals. My younger pupils have successfully secured places at prestigious schools such as St Paul’s and Hampton School. At the senior level, my students have met the rigorous grade requirements for the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, Durham and Edinburgh. I specialize in supporting candidates for highly competitive pathways, including Medicine, Veterinary Science, and Natural Sciences.

Biography

Born and raised in Stoke-on-Trent, I was the first in my family to attend university—a journey that sparked my lifelong passion for helping students to achieve their aspirations. After securing four A grades at A Level, I went on to earn my BSc (Hons) in Natural Sciences from Durham University, followed by a PGCE from the University of Nottingham.

As I move to Sardinia this summer to start a new chapter with my fiancé, I am transitioning to full-time tutoring. I am excited to bring my international experience and a genuine, warm approach to every student I support, ensuring they feel empowered to succeed.

Approach to Tutoring

Throughout my almost two-decade career—spanning prestigious UK boarding schools and international education in Rome—I’ve learned that truly transformative tutoring is built on trust and a holistic understanding of the student.

My experience as a boarding housemistress and Head of Year has given me a unique perspective on the pressures young people face today, and I pride myself on being a supportive, steadying influence who helps bridge the gap between potential and performance.

Drawing on my experience with hundreds of students, I understand that there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach; every pupil starts from a different foundation of knowledge and skills. I consider myself patient yet energetic, creating a warm, ''low-stakes'' environment where I can empower my students, providing the scaffolding they need to move from hesitation to genuine academic mastery.

When not tutoring

When I’m not tutoring, I am usually found embracing the Mediterranean lifestyle in Sardinia. I’m a keen cook who loves nothing more than cooking with ''kilometer zero'' ingredients and, of course, enjoying the results with friends and family. To stay active and recharge, I love exploring the island’s beautiful landscapes on foot or getting out on the water on my SUP. As I settle into my new home, I’ve set myself a new challenge: I have a long-held aspiration to try my hand at small-scale poultry keeping by raising my own quails!
