I began tutoring online in 2020, five years into my teaching career, to support students whose schools had closed during the pandemic. Since then I have tutored many students, ranging from 11+ entrants to A level students, with the majority of my tutees being GCSE/IGCSE students. The best part of tutoring has been when a GCSE student gains the knowledge and confidence to consider Mathematics at A level, which they would not have done without my support. I am also an Edexcel GCSE summer examiner, but have experience tutoring for other exam boards such as AQA and OCR.

Biography

I have lived in and around London my whole life. After attending King Solomon High School and achieving three As at A level in Mathematics, Biology and Religious Studies, I achieved a First Class degree in MMORSE (Masters of Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics) from the University of Warwick. After graduating I became a Data Analyst for two years before pursuing my passion as a teacher. I qualified in 2015 and spent ten years in the classroom before leaving to become a tutor full-time.

Approach to Tutoring

I do my best to bring my sense of humour to lessons; Mathematics can be daunting for some and I find laughter to be a great way to put students at ease. My overall approach to tutoring is very student-led. I have learnt over the years that every student is different, and therefore to provide the best support FOR them, I need to hear FROM them. I strongly believe that whilst I am here to help my students in any way I can, they do need to take some responsibility for their learning - after all, you can take a horse to water...

When not tutoring

When I am not tutoring, I am looking after my daughter and my dog (and my husband, I suppose). When I can get a babysitter I love going to the theatre, and my second passion after teaching is tap dancing for which I still attend regular classes.
