I have a wide range of tutoring experience as I started teaching during my undergraduate degree. I have helped students with Physics and Maths online, using creative approaches to explain complex concepts and support exam preparation. I have also, in the past, planned and taught GCSE Chemistry lesson; working collaboratively with students to assess progress and identify areas for improvement
Before university I worked as an SEND Teaching Assistant at Ysgol Nantgwyn, I supported a student on a one-to-one basis throughout the school day. Furthermore, I assisted younger students with primary-level computer science across several sessions, introducing topics such as Scratch, HTML, and Python.
Additionally, I have worked as a supply teacher, supervising students aged 11–16 during lessons and break times, maintaining order and building positive relationships with students.
I was born in Cambridge and moved to Pontypridd when I was 4, where I then grew up. After finishing my A-levels in 2020 with 3A*S (Maths, Further Maths, Physics), an A (Music) and a distinction (Welsh Baccalaureate), I took a gap year where I worked as a supply teacher in Ysgol Nantgwyn in Tonypandy. This developed into working as a 1-to-1 TA in the SEND unit of the school in 2021. I worked until July, and then in September started my Physics and Philosophy with a Year Abroad degree in King's College London. Throughout the four year degree I did spots of tutoring with MyTutor and privately. My third year was a year abroad in Hong Kong, where I learnt some Cantonese and had the opportunity to study non-STEM subjects. I returned to KCL for my final year and graduated in 2025 with a First. Then in October 2025 I started my master's degree in Advanced Materials for the Energy Transition at the University of Cambridge.
I always seek to understand my student so I can adapt my teaching style to how they learn best. I've always thought that self-esteem makes up 50% of your final mark so I make a particular focus on boosting students' confidence both during revision and in exam settings. I try to avoid the memorisation of arbitrary methods and rules, and instead explain the underlying reasoning and logic. Patience and empathy are paramount in my classroom.
Currently I'm studying my master's degree. When I'm not studying, I enjoy climbing indoors and outdoors, playing piano and guitar, and watching films. After graduating I hope to find work in a green energy start up in Cambridge, with the aim of building my skillset before applying for more senior jobs in established green energy companies.
