Qualified Primary School Teacher with a master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology. In recent years I have moved roles from working in a school to working as a full-time tutor. I have over 500 hours of tuition experience specialising in primary level work and 7+, 8+ and 11+ exams. I trained at Fox Primary School, Notting Hill, an Ofsted Outstanding school, before making the transition to Eaton House The Manor where I held the position of Year 3 class teacher for 3 years. I am renowned for my ‘outstanding’ pastoral care and my ability to engage pupils in education. In light of my pastoral care and rapport with the pupils I was appointed as House Mistress of one of the four school houses. As regards my teaching methods, I tailor my classes to engage the pupils in learning by using themes and topics that naturally gauge their interests whilst also ensuring that they attain the school's learning objectives. My passion for education and the energy I put into teaching is immediately apparent. My approach is generally very positive and is to encourage the pupils to understand their own abilities and I attempt to inspire them with positive support, praise and constructive feedback.
I am renowned for my ability to engage pupils in education and I use methods to make the subject as interesting as possible. I take time with the students to help them understand their capabilities. I use a range of activities and positive praise to help the students gain pride in their work. I have ‘outstanding’ pastoral care and adapt my teaching to each pupil. When tutoring I use resources and tools to aid learning and employ a variety of different teaching techniques. My approach is generally very positive and I like to encourage pupils to understand their own abilities and I attempt to inspire them with positive support and praise.
My personal approach to learning is to do my best to tailor each lesson to the individual child making sure we are covering our learning objectives alongside the lessons being fun and productive. My aim is to work closely with parents and children to assure that all topics that the child is not excelling in are worked on closely. My lessons are carefully structured and organised and my methods have proved successful as many of my students have gained entry to their top 2 choices of school at 7+, 8+ and 11+.
When I am not tutoring I love to read and cook. I am one of 7 children and I am now lucky enough to have my own little girl so our lives are very family centric. I also greatly enjoy making the most of living in such a wonderful city and whenever I can I attend museums and galleries.
“Antonia tutored our son for a year in his 3rd year and in that time we saw him grow in confidence and ability. Antonia has an amazing knack of bringing out the best in the children she teaches with an infectious sense of fun and a real passion for what she does. I would highly recommend Antonia!” (Year 3 support)
“Miss Antonia tutored my then eight year old son during the last year. His lack of confidence in free creative writing and being overwhelmed by the task got us to the point at which he refused to start to write a story at all. In her gentle but effective way to teach, Miss Antonia was supporting him brilliantly. Through her work with him she backed up his self-confidence and he has improved his English skills very much. He is now able to work independently, is not afraid about new tasks, and is using his grammar and punctuation with consistency. Now he loves to write his own stories and to develop his own ideas. Miss Antonia also supported him before exams in Maths to make sure he knew the subject matter. My son loved his “Miss Antonia Club” and always proudly showed me his work with her.” (Year 4 support)
''Miss Antonia has tutored my son for the last year 1:1 on skype. She has a wonderful positive attitude to learning and makes learning fun. We asked her to help him with entry to a desire secondary school and she spent time revising his learning with him. He was successful in his application and he now continues to work with him on things his struggles with at school. He very much looks forward to his lessons!'' (Homeschooling Role)
''When we were looking for somebody to help prepare our son for the 8+ exams for KCS Wimbledon, his Year 3 class teacher, Antonia, was a natural choice. Antonia had been teaching X for a few weeks when we started looking for a tutor and they had already developed a really great relationship. X was genuinely excited when we told him that Miss Antonia was going to be tutoring him for the entrance exams. x thoroughly enjoyed his sessions with Antonia. He always looked forward to them despite the fact that he had already spent a full day at school, and bounced about with excitement when she arrived. Antonia clearly has an amazing rapport with her pupils and is able to turn that to great advantage in getting the best out of them in their tutoring sessions. X always came out of their lessons on a huge high and was massively buoyed up and enthusiastic about what they had covered. They seemed to manage to cover a huge amount during a relatively short lead-up to the exams and X was comprehensively ready to tackle everything from the interview to the maths, reasoning, comprehension and creative writing.'' (8+ Preparation)
''Antonia taught my son during his second year at Eaton House. He loved his ‘Miss Antonia club’ and was always keen to attend. We were thrilled that he was offered entry to both Kings College Wimbledon and St Pauls Juniors! Antonia has a lovely way with children and makes learning engaging and fun.'' (7+ preparation)
''Antonia helped my son with his writing and reasoning. He is French speaking at home and has a good imagination but his writing can tend to be rather unstructured. Antonia did an amazing job at helping him to structure his learning and use more expressive detailed language. He now enjoys his English a great deal more and achieved 92% in his end of year assessment.'' (11+ Support)
