I have experience tutoring a range of students in both the 13+ and 11+ entrance exams. I have worked with students from Year 5 to Year 8 preparing for ISEB pre-tests, interviews, the Common Entrance and school-specific exams. Two of my 13+ students went on to receive academic scholarships at their top choice schools: Dulwich College and City of London. I recently worked with a student doing their ISEB pre-test exams, whose target schools are Westminster and Winchester. As a result, I have an understanding of what is required of a student for them to excel at the 13+, as well as the specific requirements which different schools have.
I have tutored students taking the 11+ exam and helped them to achieve places at Highgate, Notting Hill and Ealing and Francis Holland respectively. This means I have an understanding of the London 11 Plus Consortium Exam, as well as the specific requirements which some schools have. My prior experience means that I know the 11+ curriculum, and have an ability to work with younger students to increase their confidence and exam technique, also helping them with strategies to manage their nerves.
Alongside helping students prepare for school entrance exams, I have tutored multiple students in A Level Economics across several exam boards (AQA, Edexcel and OCR) since 2020. Recently, I taught a student whose A Level Economics grade improved from an E in February Year 12 when we started lessons to a high B in their final exam. This is testament to my ability to help students nail their exam technique.
I also teach Maths up to GCSE level. Maths is a very rewarding subject to teach because students’ often benefit hugely from having one-on-one attention when they can ask questions they may feel too shy to ask in big classrooms. Past students have been moved up to the top stream Maths class after a few terms of tutoring with me.
Other subjects which I tutor are French up to GCSE level and History up to A Level. Having studied HSPS at Cambridge and recently completed my MA dissertation, I have excellent essay writing skills which allow me to help students with exam techniques – particularly structuring essays. I have also mentored students doing Oxbridge entrance preparations. For example, I worked with the French Lycée to lead a set of five 2-hour classes focused on students wanting to study social sciences at Oxbridge.
I also teach art, both in classroom settings and as a private tutor. I taught regular GCSE and A Level portfolio preparation classes at Kite Studios, an art school in West London. I also worked as the art teacher at the Collège du Léman’s summer school (elite boarding school in Switzerland).
