I have several years of tutoring experience where I act principally as a Humanities and Early Entrance Exam specialist.
Entrance exam experience:
I have supported mainly with the 11+ and 13+ processes covering reading comprehension, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, vocabulary and spelling development, exam technique timing and mock practice, interview preparation and giving foundational academic skills. So far, all children I have coached through either common exams or local adaptations have all succeeded in their desired outcomes.
Humanities Tutoring:
My current principal focus is on AQA and Edexcel A Level Politics, where I've helped a multitude of students achieve their target grade or beyond.
Through a highly structured approach keeping mark schemes and specs central we practice every aspect of exam technique and AO3 development and break down complicated modules into simple and revisable formats.
Likewise, I have taught Philosophy at A-Level, History and Geography at GCSE and continue to teach debating and EFL.
I've developed strong personal relationships with all my tutees, understood their needs and fought for them to do as well as they possibly could. I take a patient and supportive approach that blends academic challenge with a calm, encouraging and generally fun style. I ensure I provide detailed written feedback and set purposeful homework to reinforce progress.
More generally, I also have really enjoyed mentoring several students from both school and university. As the recipient of brilliant mentorship, I think it's important that tutoring combines some angle of wider support to genuinely encourage a student who might be struggling with their subject.
