I have over 8 years of full-time tutoring experience in London.
Most recent students' results: Summer GCSE and A-level exams - prepared various students for 22 exams in Maths and Science - 16A*s and 6As achieved in these exams.
I have successfully prepared students for the Oxbridge admissions process and have given mock Oxbridge interviews to over 100 students.
I have successfully prepared several students for 11+ and 13+ entrance exams for UK schools including Westminster and Harrow. I have prepared these students for the Mathematics, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal reasoning exams.
I also have experience as a governor having stayed with families over longer periods on residential placements, most recently for a week in Suffolk during April 2016. During these stays I was teaching younger students but also organising and taking part in various activities with them, such as sports and trips.
3 months of tutoring in Bahrain during 2015. This involved tutoring several British students who were preparing to come back to study in the UK, including those coming back to sit 11+ and 13+ entrance exams.
Camp leader for OCSEP during 2012. This involved organising and co-ordinating activities in Oxford and London for 60 Chinese students aged between 12 and 16.
I am a 31 year old Chemistry Master’s Graduate of St Hugh’s College, Oxford University. Before studying at Oxford, I was educated at Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital School in Bristol, where I received 9A*s at GCSE and A’s in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at A level.
I currently freelance as a tutor, predominantly in Science and Mathematics, and have been doing this full time in London for over 5 years now. I predominately teach students at GCSE and A level and in the Summer 2017 exams my students received 17A*s and 6As in the 23 exams which I prepared them for. I have also successfully prepared several students for 11+ and 13+ entrance exams for UK schools including Westminster and Harrow.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge of these subjects and passing on my passion and enthusiasm for academia to as many students as possible. My other main passion is film and I run my own film production company. Through this company I produce dramatic British film and Science for television.
My passion for tutoring has grown year after year since I started teaching in 2011. I believe that one-on-one tuition gives students the perfect opportunity to ask questions which would perhaps not be thoroughly answered in a class environment and I often find that through this process my students develop a real passion for subjects which they previously didn't necessarily enjoy.
Each student learns in a different way and I use my time with each student to find what works best for them in order to allow them to reach their maximum potential. I usually find that confidence is key and allowing my students to learn new and effective ways of studying, helps them to do well in all future studies, not only in their upcoming exams.
What I do when I am not tutoring
In my free time I am exploring the Science media world, working with others in pitching ideas for Science television to various production companies.
I am also an avid sports fan and player. I have played football and tennis at various levels and spend time training for long distance running and endurance events.
My most recent 3 testimonials, which are all from parents of student's whom I prepared for exams last summer:
''Sean taught IGCSE Chemistry, Physics and Maths to my son, who sat his exams in May. He has obtained high A* in all 3 subjects, and we are delighted. Sean was always very reliable and worked steadily through the syllabuses, leaving ample time for revision. We would recommend him as a tutor.'' - Georgia C, mother to a GCSE student, Teddington
''Sean taught my son for his final year of a level. He was personable and my son enjoyed working with him - which was crucial in getting him to do work! Sean knew his stuff and was reliable in attending the arranged sessions. A B in the mock exams increased to an A in the finals which is what he needed.'' - Guy D, father to an A level Chemistry student, Wimbledon
''Sean tutored my son in GCSE Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, resulting in 4A*s. This was an incredible achievement especially with the rocky year we had. Your enthusiasm and love of your subjects went a long way in inspiring him and I particularly appreciated the very professional approach you have always taken in your role as a tutor.'' - Sarita M, mother to a GCSE student, Putney
