Megan is an approachable English and Drama tutor who studied Education with English, Drama and the Arts at the University of Cambridge. A qualified teacher, she now balances tutoring with her creative work.

Experience

- 5 years experience of being a secondary school English and Drama Teacher.

- Experience teaching for AQA and Edexcel boards

- I held the TLRs of being Year 8 Curriculum Lead for English and Deputy Head of Year 11. The school had approximately 350 students per year group, and both roles gave me the skills to devise a curriculum and ensure it was delivered to a high standard across the year group, as well as oversee behaviour and deal with a variety of safeguarding concerns.

- I spent 2 years teaching at a GDST school. There, I also provided 1:1 support for a student with Autism and worked closely with the Neurodiversity Team as a learning mentor for students with ALN, EAL, and SEMH needs.

- I was also responsible for overseeing and delivering the KS2 Drama curriculum to the attached Prep School.

- I have extensive experience tutoring the 11+ and various school admissions tests privately.

Biography

Originally from Swansea, I completed my A Levels at Gower College, achieving As in English Literature, History, and Drama. I went on to read Education with English, Drama, and the Arts (BA, 2:1) at the University of Cambridge (Homerton College). I achieved QTS after completing a salaried SCITT course with GLF Schools teacher training in the summer of 2021.

Approach to Tutoring

I have extensive experience in tutoring and working with young people, and I find that my approach to teaching is led by the learning style of the individual student. I am enthusiastic and patient and am always keen to build the confidence of my students when approaching the subject, as well as improving their skills.

When not tutoring

I left teaching after five years to allow myself more flexibility and freedom in having become a teacher straight out of university at 21. I am currently working freelance as an actor and writer, with lots of availability to take on new students.

I have a keen interest in the theatre, writing, and running.
