I am a qualified English, History, and Law teacher with nearly two decades of experience teaching in secondary, sixth form, and international schools. I hold an LLB (Hons) with First Class Honours from The Open University, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and Master’s-level qualifications in English and History awarded through the University of Tübingen and the National Institute for Didactics and Teacher Education, Tübingen, Germany.

My career began at the University of Tübingen, where I taught undergraduate courses in English Language, Academic Writing, and Applied Linguistics. Alongside this, I taught English and History at Gymnasium Meßstetten, working with Abitur students while continuing to lecture part-time at the university. Balancing school and university teaching gave me a strong understanding of how to translate advanced academic thinking into clear, effective classroom practice.

While teaching full-time, I completed my Law degree with First Class Honours, further strengthening my subject knowledge and academic discipline.

In 2017, I moved to the United States to teach at the German International School Washington D.C., where I taught English, History, and Law to senior students and introduced AP-level courses in International Law. After returning to the UK, I became Head of History at Notting Hill Preparatory School, where I also taught Latin and English and organised academic workshops, including a live seminar with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

I currently teach OCR A-Level Law at Kimberley Sixth Form College and continue to tutor privately in English, History, and Law. My teaching places a strong emphasis on clarity of thought, structured writing, and intellectual curiosity, helping students develop independence and approach their studies with confidence and precision.

I tailor my tutoring closely to the individual student, as experience has shown me that pupils learn and gain confidence in very different ways. I aim to be clear, supportive, and structured, while remaining flexible in how I teach.

For 11+ preparation, this might involve breaking down English comprehension and writing into simple, repeatable strategies, as well as practising interviews through guided discussion and realistic role-play so that pupils learn to think aloud with confidence. At A-level, for example in History, I focus on helping students organise their ideas clearly, build well-supported arguments, and write with precision under exam conditions, rather than memorising content alone.

Across all levels, I place strong emphasis on developing independent learners who understand how to approach their work thoughtfully and calmly.

At the moment, I divide my time between teaching five days per week, private tutoring in Law, English and History (6-8 hours per week), and continuing to build links with colleagues and schools abroad. I am particularly interested in developing an international network of collaboration, having already worked closely with an American school on shared projects.

Outside education, I am a keen hiker and climber and am currently training to climb Mount Kilimanjaro next summer. I also enjoy playing the piano, creative writing and reading widely. In the coming years I hope to pursue further academic study, possibly a Master’s in Classics, and to continue broadening my horizons both professionally and intellectually.
