During my PhD in Chemistry at the University of Oxford, I developed extensive teaching experience across a range of age groups and educational settings. Within my research group, I supervised a Master’s student – equipping them with the intellectual and practical tools to conduct and write-up an independent research project. Working as a demonstrator in the teaching labs, I taught undergraduate students how to safely conduct experiments and then link them to the theoretical principles behind them. I particularly enjoyed helping students make connections between hands-on work and abstract concepts, encouraging deeper engagement with the material.
Breaking Science and Maths down for younger students, I’ve led outreach sessions for GCSE and A-level students. Translating complex ideas into accessible topics. These sessions often sparked advanced discussions, allowing students to explore topics well beyond their curriculum and inspiring many to consider Science at university level.
Outside academia, I worked as a counsellor at an American summer camp, where I discovered a passion for working with younger children. I brought energy and fun to activities ranging from high ropes to leadership workshops, supporting children aged 5-16 in building confidence and teamwork skills. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and I thrived in the creative environment.
I joined Keystone Tutors as a full-time tutor in August 2025 to further develop my teaching skills. I have undertaken Keystone’s Professional Tutor training programme and am eagerly building up my cohort of students for this academic year.
