I am a fully qualified teacher with 5 years experience in both teaching and tutoring. I moved to London in the summer of 2015. I currently teach Mathematics at GCSE and A-Level at Lady Margaret School in Fulham. In addition I have become the KS4 Intervention Coordinator at Lady Margaret where I oversee the needs of pupils trying to obtain their individual targets.
I was born in Liverpool but spent most of my childhood living in Germany as my father was in the armed forces, from there I spent secondary school in Berkshire and Yorkshire before finally moving back to Merseyside. At A-level I studied Mathematics (A grade), Physics and Geography. I went on to study Mathematics at the University of Liverpool (2:1) and then achieved a HND in Music Production. I have been living in London for nearly two years and I am in my sixth year of teaching.
Mathematics has evolved significantly over the past decade (even more so recently with the 9-1 GCSE). I have found that pupils are now required to have a deeper understanding of why they are applying rules or processes in a mathematical context. Therefore I endeavour to part this knowledge on my pupils so that they can enjoy Maths and see it for what it is. I still find Maths fascinating, even to this day, and I love to share my enthusiasm for the subject. My primary focus is on exam style questions so that pupils become accustomed to problem solving and the language used in order to be more adequately prepared.
What I do when I am not tutoring
When I'm not tutoring I like to play guitar and record music. I can spend hours locked away in my make shift studio at home! I also like to go on walks whenever I can.
''I would recommend Wesley to anyone needing help with Maths. He is calm, clear, interesting and encouraging. Five star tutor!'' (Joy, parent of 16 year old)
