Kane graduated with First Class degree in Modern Languages & Cultures from Durham University and has been tutoring since he was a student himself. As well as teaching French and Spanish, Kane helps prepare students for entrance tests across the Primary age range.

I have a breadth of experience teaching across a range of professional environments. In addition to work experience in schools, I have worked on a 1-1 basis with students at leading educational consultancy agencies in London for the past four years in both homeschooling and supplementary tutoring roles.

I have over 5 years experience as a specialist tutor of KS2-3 English, Maths, VR & NVR for 7/11+/13+/ISEB assessments, with tutees attaining offers from JAGS, Dulwich College, Wetherby, Winchester, Eton, Harrow, Westminster, Bancrofts, St Paul's and many others.

Previously, I have worked as a specialist content writer with Atom Learning, Exam Papers Plus, and PiAcademy for school and exam profiles, including comprehensive guidance to CAT4, GL & Bond assessments etc.

I am an experienced SEND tutor, including supporting students with ASD and ADHD, Dyslexia, Anxiety and Mental Health difficulties. I hold CPD Qualifications in Child Psychology and Safeguarding and focus on fostering an inclusive approach to tutoring.

With four years of experience of French tuition at 13+, IB, GCSE/iGCSE, and A-Level [AQA/EDEXCEL/WJEC], I’m passionate about fostering an immersive and digitally engaging approach to grammar and vocabulary acquisition.

As a Durham University Modern Languages Graduate, I attained First Class grades across all French Language modules, and A*s at A-Level and GCSE in French, and have a background in sociolinguistics and language acquisition.

With over 5yrs’ experience as a specialist Spanish language tutor, I have a proven track record with GCSE/iGCSE, and A-Level [AQA/EDEXCEL/WJEC] students, with a focus on exam technique, expanding vocabulary, and consolidating foundational grammar in immersive ways.

Biography

Growing up in rural Lancashire, I attended Bowland Academy & Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, engaging in a range of extracurricular projects and interests outside of my academics. Among them, acting as Head Boy and drama and performance projects.

Having attained A*A*AA at A-Level, I proceeded to undertake a B.A. Hons Degree in Modern Languages & Cultures at Durham University. In 2020, I later graduated with First Class Honours and a Distinction in Spoken Spanish, with my dissertation awarded a mark of 84 and being published by the School of Modern Languages & Cultures.

During my time at university, I continued to dedicate myself to artistic endeavours under Durham Student Theatre and Durham University Light Opera Group, including serving in various roles as committee member.

Further to my administrative contributions, I wrote and directed an award-winning play as part of Durham Drama Festival. As a constituent part of my year abroad, I attended Eòlia Conversatory for Dramatic Arts, Barcelona, engaging with the Ramón Llull Institute on short film projects.

Upon completion of my undergraduate degree, I proceeded to undertake an M.A. at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, validated by the UEA. Alongside receiving professional performance training and working with industry experts, I graduated with Distinction.

Since leaving Mountview, I have worked as a private tutor and educational consultant, linguist, and actor.

Approach to Tutoring

Developing a holistic approach in my tutoring has been transformative to my tutees’ learning, building confidence and autonomy that sets individuals up for success not only in the short-term, but across their entire academic and professional lives.

When not tutoring

Currently, I work predominantly in the education sector as a private coach and educational consultant. In addition to my work in education, I work as a freelance linguist and actor. I am passionate about bringing the benefits of my professional insights to my tutees’ learning experiences.
