Besides guiding students through specific exams, I can help with interview preparation, essay and study skills and general learning support.
My students have earned places at leading independent schools such as Harrow, St Paul's, Westminster, Dulwich and Cheltenham Ladies' College, and a number of them have gone on to study History or Classics at Oxbridge.
I'm an American and grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. After completing my BA in Latin at the University of Oregon, I worked as a translator, political analyst and journalist in Mexico City, Berlin and Rome, and subsequently earned an MA with Distinction in European History from King's College London and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. I then taught a range of subjects, including English, Maths, History and Classics at an independent school in South Kensington and have tutored students in languages and the humanities since 2017.
I believe the tutor's role is to show students what they are capable of -- it's often more than they realise! I put value on being a patient and encouraging listener, which helps to improve confidence and animate intellectual curiosity. I am always alert to opportunities to engage students' imagination and talents, to address their anxieties, and foster awareness of their own capabilities.
I encourage my students to take ownership of their goals and responsibility for their study habits. I'm extremely familiar with the exams in the subjects I teach and make sure they know just what to expect, so that they can plan realistically, work confidently and achieve their best results.
Pre-pandemic, my passions were travelling, architecture and movies. At the moment, I spend a lot of time playing with my baby daughter, cooking, reading and gardening at our allotment.
