My tutoring career began in 2010 after completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Nottingham. Tutoring one-to-one ignited my passion for teaching and so I decided to qualify as a teacher after my Master´s. Since qualifying as an outstanding teacher through the Teach First scheme in 2013, I have taught a range of exam boards and curriculums in London, Mexico, Scotland and currently, in The Netherlands. I have collaborated with colleagues in the development of an effective, engaging and inclusive curriculum and have had experience developing and overseeing year group numeracy and literacy activities. My good practice as an effective mathematics teacher was also presented during continuous professional development workshops to be shared with other teachers.
After teaching in an international school in Mexico City for 3 years, I decided to move back to the UK in 2018 to embark the journey of a Master´s in Education at the University of Edinburgh. After completion, I moved to The Netherlands to work as a teacher in an IB international school, alongside fulfilling my duties as a deputy year leader for years 10 and 11.
After completing my GCSEs and A levels in Maths, Physics and English in London, I went on to completing a Mathematics degree at the University of Nottingham. Due to my love of mathematics, I then decided to complete a Master´s in Mathematics at Imperial College London in 2011. Since then, I have qualified as a teacher and gained experience teaching in wonderful cities such as Mexico City, London, Edinburgh, and currently in The Hague.
As a teacher, I have been successful in keeping students engaged by adapting to their individual learning styles. As I always say, there is always more than one way of learning the same topic in mathematics, it is not just black or white! Students respond well to a teacher who is passionate about the subject they are teaching, and so my passion in mathematics has been one of the reasons my students have exceeded their expectations.
By tailoring to students individual needs and styles, and focusing on positive language, I have been able to build great relationships with my students over the years which in turn has led to amazing results.
As well as teaching in a school in The Netherlands, I am expanding my online tutoring platform. I love meeting new people and learning about all the fascinating cultures and languages that exist around us through travelling.
''We highly appreciate Nazli as a teacher. She sees the potential in her students and motivates them to take that extra step. We see the impact she has had on both our boys. Thank you.'' (Mother of 13 and 15 year old)
''We would like to take this opportunity to thank Nazli for all her efforts and hard work teaching our son. He on the whole speaks with enthusiasm about his classes and lessons and is always happy to attend his lessons, which is down in large part to Nazli's hard work and efforts - many thanks.''
