I have extensive experience of private tutoring. I have tutored common entrance (11+ and 13+) on a regular basis and have prepared pupils for Wellington College, St Paul's School, St Paul's Girls School, Kendrick School, and Lady Eleanor Holles School.
I was educated at Kendrick School in Berkshire. I attained 11A*s at GCSE and A*AA at A Level (Economics, Mathematics and Latin).
I then studied for a BA Classics at University College London, from which I graduated with First Class Honours last year.
I have a dynamic and flexible approach to tutoring. I think it is important to adjust the structure and style of tutoring to meet the needs and aims of the particular individual. My key aim is to raise the achievements of individuals beyond their own expectations with challenging and rewarding lessons.
I always keep lessons as interactive as possible, using a question and answer technique as well as engaging and creative materials. As the exams approach, I typically switch the focus to past papers and exam technique so that students develop the practical skills to deploy their knowledge.
What I do when I am not tutoring
I am currently studying the Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP Law School and intend to practise as a solicitor after the completion of this course and the Legal Practice Course. Accordingly, I have a substantial amount of free time in which to tutor over the next two or three years.
When I am not tutoring, I enjoy playing sports such as hockey and tennis. I also run a youth debating club.
"Harriet went above and beyond what you would expect from a tutor. I have full confidence in recommending her" (Mother of 11+ student)
"My son has really enjoyed the lessons so far and his confidence has gone from strength to strength" (Father of 13+ student)
