The Maths Admissions Test (MAT) - Oxford
What is the MAT? The Maths Admissions Test (MAT) is the admissions test used by Oxford for degrees in Mathematics. If you’re applying for a Maths or Computer Science degree at Oxford or a Maths degree at Imperial College London, you must sit the MAT just after beginning year 13 in late October/early November.

The Maths Admissions Tests (MAT Tests) are designed to help whittle down the number of students moving on to interview stage, and as such is a rigorous and competitive examination. The Maths tutors we represent can help your child maximise their performance in these Tests, building on their knowledge and helping them to demonstrate the depth of their knowledge and understanding successfully, as they compete for places to read Maths at one of the UK’s top universities.
The MAT test is used for entry by the University of Oxford, by Imperial College London and by the University of Warwick.
The test is a 2hr 30 minutes written test designed to test the depth of mathematical understanding through 7 questions.

The goal of the MAT test is to see how you respond to questions with a large problem-solving component. The tutors we represent can help your child in practicing and developing problem-solving techniques required to succeed on the MAT test. Working through past papers with these tutors is also an excellent way for your child to master the skills they will require to give themselves the best chance of success. The more experience you have with different types of problems, the more prepared you will be for the examination.
