Why parents choose Keystone for
GCSE tutoring

We employ a core team of full-time tutors — rare in the industry. This means quality, reliability, and long-term commitment to students.

Our GCSE tutors are part of a tightly-knit team of skilled professionals, many of whom are former teachers from top UK independent schools or career tutors. Each one is handpicked through a rigorous screening process, and we know every tutor personally, so we can be confident your child is getting a supportive, carefully tailored learning experience. Because what works for one child won't work for another, tuition begins with an informal, tutor-led academic assessment. Together with your child's academic aims, it shows us where to focus in each session.

Finding the right tutor

for each child

Initial consultation
1

Step 1: Detailed Consultation

Before we can help a student, we often need to spend a significant amount of time learning about the student's requirements. Most consultations are carried out over the phone or on a video call.

Step 2: Academic Assessment (optional)

Students sit our custom-made academic assessments to indicate their level in relation to their peers, and in order to identify suggested areas to work on. Parents also seek academic assessments for their children to determine their general strengths and weaknesses, and decide upon a set of objectives for the course of tuition.

Step 3: Tutor Selection Process

The selection of the tutor is an integral part of our process. Priding ourselves on how well we know the varying strengths of each tutor, we ensure that each decision is informed by the expectation of a successful match between the tutor and student.

Step 4: Regular Progress Monitoring

After the first lesson, one of our dedicated client managers will contact you to find out how the lesson went. Our client managers are always available at the end of the phone and they are frequently praised for their efficiency, dedication and responsiveness.

Step 5: Monthly Reporting & Feedback

We have a monthly reporting system which is used to update parents on an ongoing basis. The monthly report details:

  • the focus of that month’s tutoring
  • the form of assessment used
  • the student's achievements and areas for further work
  • the focus for the coming month

The regular, rigorous reporting of the tutors we represent is frequently commended by parents.

The GCSE tutors we represent are able to deliver in-person tuition within central London. For those outside of London we offer online tutoring.

The tutors we represent are well versed in delivering online tuition, using videoconferencing and an interactive whiteboard. This gives students, wherever they are in the world, access to experienced, high quality tutors who are familiar with the requirements of the GCSE exams.

If your child didn’t achieve the GCSE grades they were aiming for, a GCSE resit tutor can provide the targeted support needed to improve their performance. Our experienced tutors focus on reviewing key concepts, addressing specific areas of difficulty and delivering effective revision strategies to help boost exam results and build academic self esteem.

The process begins with an informal academic assessment, allowing the tutor to create a personalised learning plan based on your child's needs. This comprehensive review allows the tutor to build a tailored programme of study based on your child’s ability. The scheme of work will include reviewing past exam papers, practice questions and detailed feedback to ensure your child is thoroughly prepared for their resit exam.

We include mock exams and predicted grades as part of our GCSE resit package.

Yes, we offer a trial lesson. With Keystone, you are not required to sign up for any minimum number of lessons, and we offer one-off paid trial lessons so that your child can determine if the fit is right for them. This allows students and parents tutoring through Keystone before committing to regular sessions. The trial lesson is charged at the tutor’s full hourly rate and there is no obligation to continue if you feel it's not the right match.

GCSE Revision Techniques and Skills

How should I create a timetable for my GCSEs?

Creating a comprehensive timetable is one of the most helpful things you can do to ensure success in your GCSEs. While this timetable may vary depending on other commitments, there are of course some aspects that are helpful to remember.

The first is to ensure that you dedicate time to the areas you find more complex. Be it Evolution, or the Elizabethans, write a list for each subject of the areas you are required to study, and be sure to spend a little more time on those you find challenging. Don’t neglect the areas you are more proficient at, in your GCSEs balance is key.

The very best timetables allow for flexibility. While studying for your GCSEs is a priority, it is important to remember that taking periodic breaks will aid your retention of information. You may also need to adapt your timetable for the rate at which you have managed to cover your subjects. Try not to overload yourself.

How to Revise for GCSE Maths

As GCSEs approach, many students ask themselves how they should best revise for their GCSE Maths exams. Unlike subjects that focus largely on memorising information, mathematics requires understanding concepts and applying them to solve problems. This means that re-reading notes is rarely enough. Successful revision in mathematics usually involves a variety of practising questions, developing problem-solving strategies and regularly reviewing key topics. With the right approach, students can build confidence, strengthen their understanding and score highly in their GCSE Maths exams.

How to Revise for GCSE Biology

As GCSEs come ever closer, many students start to consider how best to revise for GCSE Biology. Unlike subjects that primarily focus on extended writing, Biology requires students to understand a wide range of scientific concepts and apply them to questions. The exams do not just test students’ ability to memorise and regurgitate facts; they must be able to apply this knowledge to unfamiliar questions, interpret data and explain processes clearly.

Therefore, effective revision for GCSE Biology involves both learning relevant content and practising how to use that knowledge in context. Reading notes alone is unlikely to be sufficient; students will benefit from active revision, regular testing and revisiting topics over time.

With a structured approach, students can build confidence in their understanding, improve recall of key information and develop the skills required to perform well in their GCSE Biology exams.
