Critical thinking is the key driver of success in both exams and university admission - particularly in humanities and social sciences.

I mentored students in English, History and Geography at pre-GCSE, GCSE and A Level while at school and university to students of mixed ability, including high achievers and those with special educational needs.

I tutored Oxbridge applicants (HSPS and geography) following graduation in 2018-19. This included personal statement preparation and interview technique.

As a consultant, I designed training programs for adults for the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition and the International AIDS Society, drawing on pedagogical principles.

I have A Levels (all A*) in History, Geography and English Literature. I read Human, Social and Political Sciences and Geography at the University of Cambridge (Sidney Sussex College) 2015-18, graduating II.i.

From 2018 until November 2025 I worked in research and consultancy across several agencies, for clients including major businesses like PepsiCo and Unilever, charities including UNICEF and Concern Worldwide, and UK government departments.

From 2024-2025 I studied for a master's degree in Development Studies at the Institute for Development Studies at the University of Sussex, which is the no. 1 ranked institution in the world for the subject. I graduated with Distinction (74%) and with high Distinction in my dissertation (78%).

Critical thinking is the key driver of success in both exams and university admission - particularly in humanities and social sciences. A critical, curious mindset and intellectual confidence is the glue that holds together knowledge, study skills and exam technique, and without it none can be developed.

Informed by my years in social research, I always start by briefly asking the student about their experiences, motivations and challenges. From there, I identify routes that can take them from where they are, to where they want to go - drawing on what they already find interesting or engaging.

I am a keen cook and culture vulture - find me in art galleries most weekends. I read the Financial Times cover to cover and listen voraciously to history podcasts. I continue to do freelance research and consulting work alongside tutoring.
