We are offering two options, an AQA course and an Edexcel course. Details for each course are below.
Maths Edexcel IGCSE Course Description
This course has a dual focus - first to make sure that students are comfortable with fundamental mathematical techniques, but also to develop understanding of how to apply these techniques effectively when problem solving. In essence, the aim of the course is not only to refine mathematical language, but to draw disparate topics into closer relationship.
Edexcel IGCSE Course Outline
Day 1: [Algebra/Numerical] The topics covered here will be primarily numerical and algebraic, the focus being on technique, layout, and those tricks that allow for more effective mathematical working. There would also be a focus on effectively converting written questions into algebraic representation [Incl. fractions, factorising, indices, surds].
Day 2: [Functions/Graphs] Recap of previous day's major points/chance for students to bring forward questions that they want addressing. There will be a shift of focus to algebraic application in functions, both linear and quadratic. Graphically representing algebraic expressions is a tricky process and we would look at ways to overcome these difficulties.
Day 3: [Algebraic applications] Begin with recap/chance to address particular questions. Focus would be on more singular numerical/algebraic topics incl. sequences and series, sim. equations, proportion. The aim would be to build towards L7-9 problem solving questions through the course of the lesson.
Day 4: [Geometry] This will include, but not be limited to, trigonometry and pythagoras in both 2-D and 3-D. Again, we would build towards problem solving questions that would make use of the techniques covered on the first day.
Day 5: [Statistics] The primary focuses would be probability tree diagrams and Venn diagrams. Again, we will build towards problem solving questions that, in the context of statistics, demand strong algebraic ability. There will be time set aside at the end to address any questions.
Edexcel IGCSE Course Tutor
This course will be lead by one of our professional tutors, Jean-Michel. Jean-Michel is an experienced tutor who loves to find new ways of teaching his subjects and aims to foster a love of learning in his students.
Maths AQA GCSE Course Description
This intensive 5-day course will focus on the application of syllabus content to exam questions. Each day will look at a broad range of question types and how content can be examined in this context. Students will be taught how to use mark schemes as a revision aid, identifying gaps in knowledge and how to tackle these.

AQA GCSE Course Tutor
This course will be run by one of our professional tutors, Jon. Jon is a former Head of Science with over 10 years' experience in teaching GCSE Science and A-level Physics. He joined Keystone in 2012 and has helped 180 Keystone families over this period, teaching more than 7,200 hours.
