Designed by experienced Keystone tutors, the A Level 'Study Skills' course is designed to aid students in their revision, note-taking, timetabling and general organisation when studying for exams. These courses will give to students both the skills and confidence to revise and work alone and will be especially useful to students at a Sixth-Form/College level who will be revising, taking examinations, or simply working independently in the near future.
The course is 3.5 hours long, spread over 3 sessions (with a 10 minute break after each session).
Study Skills: This sessions teaches students how to organise their material most effectively, how to develop an effective working schedule, and helps them understand when and under what conditions they work best. This session aims particularly to develop independent learning skills, using a multitude of tasks.
Revision Techniques: This session introduces students to a range of revision techniques and explodes a variety of myths about revision. It emphasises the careful planning of each stage of the revision process in order to get the most from it. These skills will be fundamental to a successful learning career.
Exam Techniques: This sessions talks about how to approach a variety of different exam papers - in this case, the papers will be of whatever subjects the attendees are studying for - how to prepare in the immediate run-up, how to plan in exams, how to keep time, etc. These skills, too, will be essential in the long term.
Michael studied Classics at Oxford and subsequently completed his MA in Comparative Literature at UCL. Outside of tutoring, Michael is a keen writer and a thespian at heart.
