The Challenge
In early autumn, Rugby School faced an unexpected staffing challenge when their IB Diploma Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) teacher fell ill. A group of 18 students needed continuity in their learning, and the school required immediate, high-quality online teaching cover from the end of September until 7th November.
The timetable involved 50-minute lessons per fortnight across a rotating Week A & B cycle. The cover teacher needed to quickly adapt to the existing curriculum and maintain engagement and progress for both groups.
Our Solution
Keystone provided a qualified and experienced tutor, with expertise in online teaching. Within days, lessons were in place, ensuring students’ learning continued without disruption.
- The tutor, Kate B, integrated seamlessly into Rugby School’s systems, adapting lesson plans to fit the department’s established schemes of work.
- Keystone coordinated logistics and maintained clear communication to ensure a smooth transition.
- Lessons were tailored to keep students engaged and on track with their learning objectives.
The Outcome
Rugby School praised Keystone for our speed, flexibility, and quality of support:
“Keystone were quick to provide high quality teaching support when we found ourselves suddenly short of a teacher. They were flexible and responsive. The tutor that Keystone supplied was positive and gave confidence to our students.” Edward Davies, Deputy Head (Academic)
The school also highlighted the value of our professionalism in a time-sensitive situation:
“We very much appreciate the help you were able to provide. The tutor adapted to our demands quickly and without any fuss. We felt very well supported by you and others at Keystone.” Edward Davies, Deputy Head (Academic)
