I have extensive experience preparing students for 7+, 8+, 11+, and 13+ school entrance examinations, including those for Harrow School and other competitive selective schools. I focus on:
Creative writing: Structure, technique, and exam tactics to help students stand out.
Comprehension: Developing critical reading skills and the ability to analyse texts under timed conditions.
Exam strategy: Time management, planning, and understanding what examiners are looking for.
Confidence building: Supporting students to feel calm, prepared, and ready to perform on the day.
I have a strong track record of helping students gain places at top UK schools and consistently exceed their target grades.
I am a fully qualified English teacher with QTS and an MA TESOL from the University of Birmingham. I have over 10 years of experience teaching English online and in person, specialising in exam preparation for IGCSE, IELTS, A-Level, and UK school entrance exams including 11+, 13+, and competitive selective schools like Harrow. I am passionate about helping students build confidence, master exam technique, and achieve their academic goals. I take a patient, student-led approach and enjoy making learning engaging and accessible for every student.
“I ended up getting a C, 295 marks total — 122 on Paper 1 and 112 on Paper 2.”
“She also passed her English Language and is off to college. Thank you so much for your support with her. Given how much school she had missed, that’s an amazing result!”
Having taught a great number of students across many years, I have found that each one learns and makes sense of English in their own particular way. As such, I always take the time to understand how a student thinks before deciding how to teach them. Some respond best to structure and repetition, others to discussion and creativity, and many need a blend of both.
I consider myself calm, patient, and encouraging, but also focused and results driven. I set high expectations and I support students to meet them. I break complex skills down into clear, manageable steps so that progress feels achievable rather than overwhelming.
I place strong emphasis on exam technique, mark scheme precision, and building genuine confidence. My aim is not just to get a student through their next assessment, but to give them skills they can carry into any exam, essay, or argument they face.
Above all, I want every student to feel capable and to see their own progress. When a student starts to believe in themselves, the results follow.
I am fully committed to a career in teaching and education.
Currently, I am looking to expand my private tutoring work further and am dedicated to building long-term relationships with students and families. I have a stable, predictable schedule and can confidently commit to my clients. I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals and am excited about the opportunity to grow my practice.
