My tutoring career is defined by a deep specialization in IBDP and A-Level Economics, spanning over 13 years. Since 2013, I have served as an IB Examiner, consistently marking Paper 1, Paper 2, and Internal Assessments (IA) for over a decade. This role, combined with my position as an IBDP Economics Workshop Leader, allows me to provide students with an unparalleled understanding of assessment criteria and the technical precision required for top marks. I also regularly prepare high-achieving candidates for Oxbridge admissions, specifically through rigorous mock interviews and economic discourse.
Beyond exam results, my philosophy focuses on building long-term transferable skills. I take great pride in accompanying my students through their entire academic journey; for example, I began tutoring a student in the 3rd Form, initially focusing on critical reading and news analysis. I eventually guided her through her IBDP Economics syllabus, and she is now completing her PhD at the University of Cambridge. We continue to meet regularly to discuss her research and career aspirations. For me, the most fulfilling aspect of tutoring is this ability to foster intellectual growth from foundational levels to the highest reaches of academia.

Born and educated in China, I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Economics. This academic foundation, paired with my bilingualism, allows me to offer students a unique perspective on the subject—specifically in deconstructing complex terminology and nuances that are often lost in translation.
I have specialized in IBDP and A-Level Economics for 13 years, and I bring the added advantage of being an active examiner for both boards. My goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and the precise requirements of the mark scheme, ensuring my students approach their exams with the confidence of an insider.

My tutoring philosophy centers on demystifying complex economic theory through linguistic clarity and real-world relevance. Having the advantage of being bilingual, I possess a unique ability to parse technical terms beyond their surface-level definitions, allowing me to explain the ''why'' behind the jargon. This is particularly effective for ESL students, as I can navigate the nuances of English terminology that often act as barriers to entry. To ensure these concepts truly stick, I bridge the gap between the textbook and the news cycle by linking abstract theories to current global events. By transforming a supply curve or a fiscal policy into a relatable real-world narrative, I make economics not just more applicable for exams, but genuinely engaging for the student.

I currently teach IB and A-Level Economics at a college, which keeps me busy during the week. When I’m not in the classroom or tutoring, I’m usually on the court; I play racket sports competitively for a local club and love the energy of a good match. My main focus right now, however, is training for a new marathon PB later this year.
