I have been tutoring for over a decade, supporting students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and abilities. My experience includes preparing students for top independent and grammar schools, as well as guiding them through GCSEs, A Levels, IB, and university applications for STEM subjects. I have an in-depth knowledge of the UK curriculum and various international syllabi, and I specialise in breaking down complex concepts into clear, practical explanations.
In addition, I have extensive experience teaching students with SEN, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. I previously taught Maths and Physics at a local community centre, where I adapted lessons to suit different learning styles and needs. I have also taught programming to students as young as six years old through to adults, and have volunteered abroad teaching in Guatemala, which broadened my understanding of diverse educational approaches and cultural contexts.
Alongside my private tutoring work, I have spent several years working with leading tutoring agencies in London and taught GCSE and A Level Maths at the Classical School of Ballet in Clapham, where I adapted lessons to meet the needs of students balancing demanding academic and extracurricular commitments. My approach is highly personalised – I adapt my teaching style to each student’s learning needs and make lessons engaging, structured, and relevant, often using real-life applications to bring abstract concepts to life.
I have a proven track record of helping students significantly improve their grades, gain confidence in their abilities, and secure places at prestigious universities, including Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. My lessons incorporate targeted problem-solving, tailored revision strategies, and plenty of challenge for high-achieving students to encourage lateral and creative thinking.
I am a Maths, Physics, and Computer Science tutor with over a decade of experience. I have a PhD from Royal Holloway University of London, which was on an experiment aiming to detect dark matter in the universe. I'm teaching A Level Physics and Maths at a private tutorial college in NW London for the past several months and have experience tutoring students of all ages, from elementary school to university level. Whether it is basic arithmetic or advanced calculus, I have the skills and knowledge to help my students succeed. Similarly, I have tutored Physics, Maths and Computer Science at a range of levels, from introductory courses to more advanced topics such as quantum mechanics and machine learning. Throughout my years of tutoring, I have developed a reputation for being patient, dedicated, and enthusiastic about helping students achieve their academic goals. So, whether they are struggling with a specific topic, or simply want to improve their grades and confidence in these subjects, I am here to help!
“Amardeep tutored both my sons for their sciences A level eldest and GCSE youngest and motivated them even online. She is a high achiever herself (went to US to do post graduate studies and became fluent in Spanish!). She has a lively personality and good sense of humour which helped bring studies to life.”
“Amardeep was recommended to me by a friend, who taught my daughter who under her caring support and tutoring successfully passed her GCSE maths. Given she was highly unlikely to have passed with just school tuition, we were delighted with the results! Amardeep definitely went the extra mile, and it was much appreciated. 😊”
“His final score was a 44 and he got a 7 both in High Level Maths Analysis and Physics and he was of course super proud of this achievement. It goes without saying that we enormously appreciated the incredible job that both his tutors have done. In particular Amardeep made him love Physics even more than he already did, at the point that he is thinking to take some classes at Georgetown where he’s starting college in August.”
It is my fundamental belief that tutoring should not only prepare students for exams but also nurture a genuine interest in the subject. In subjects like Maths, Physics, and Computer Science, where problem-solving is at the heart of learning, students thrive when they can actively engage with the material rather than simply memorise formulas or methods. My aim is to make lessons dynamic and enjoyable, using real-life applications and creative problem-solving to show students how these subjects connect to the world around them. This approach is particularly effective for building confidence in students who may initially lack enthusiasm or have struggled with traditional teaching methods.
I recognise that every student learns differently, and one-on-one tutoring provides the perfect environment to tailor each lesson to the individual. I take time to assess a student’s strengths, weaknesses, and preferred learning style, and I adjust my teaching accordingly—whether that means breaking concepts into smaller, manageable steps, introducing extension problems for high achievers, or incorporating visual and interactive techniques for students with ADHD, dyslexia, or dyscalculia. The goal is always the same: to help students gain a deep understanding of concepts so they can apply their knowledge flexibly, even in unfamiliar or challenging exam questions.
I particularly enjoy guiding students to discover ideas for themselves, encouraging them to question why methods work and to make connections between topics. When time allows, I help students derive key results or formulas, fostering a sense of ownership over the material. This deeper understanding not only leads to higher grades but also equips students with critical thinking skills and resilience—qualities that benefit them well beyond their exams.
When tutoring online, I ensure the same level of quality and engagement as in-person sessions. I make use of interactive whiteboard by sharing my iPad screen so problems can be solved together in real-time. I also digital quizzes, and shared documents so that students can actively participate rather than passively listen. All noted then get uploaded onto a Google Drive folder that is available to access for these students at any hour.
Majority of my students have achieved significant grade improvements through this approach, including those preparing for GCSEs, A Levels, and university entrance exams.
I have completed a PhD in experimental particle physics, researching the direct detection of Dark Matter using the LUX-ZEPLIN underground experiment in South Dakota, USA. This experience not only deepened my understanding of Physics but also gave me access to a wealth of knowledge and problem-solving skills that I now bring to my students. After completing my PhD, I transitioned into tutoring full-time, which allows me the flexibility to combine my love for teaching with my passion for travel.
Over the past few months, I’ve been living in Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia, exploring new cultures and landscapes and having become fairly fluent in Spanish! I’m an avid traveller who loves hiking, camping, and being immersed in nature. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing the ukulele, watching football (I’m a big Arsenal supporter!), and spending time outdoors whenever I can.
