I’ve worked as a teacher for the past 17 years. I have experience teaching Spanish at all levels from ab initio classes to university entrance. I have taught GCSE/IGCSE with extensive experience with CIE and AQA and I have taught A Level using mainly the Edexcel syllabus but I’m familiar with AQA and IB specifications. In addition, I’ve prepared students for Oxbridge interviews and the MLAT. The vast majority of my students have achieved top grades at GCSE/IGCSE and A level. I have also coached students who secured places at Oxford and Cambridge to read Spanish.

After working for five years at BP Venezuela, I decided to do a MSc in Latin American studies at Oxford. I was determined to follow my masters with a career I was passionate about and this is why I decided to go into education. Having gone to school in Venezuela, I wanted to familiarise myself with the British educational system as quickly as possible and applied for a job at a local comprehensive as a Teaching Assistant and as a Spanish teacher in Adult Learning. This experience confirmed that teaching was my vocation. I then completed my Graduate Teaching Programme based at Wheatley Park School in Oxford. I gained NQT status in June 2007 and a year later was awarded QTS while working at Radley College where I worked for 16 years. At Radley, I was Head of Spanish for 4 years and Head of Modern Languages for 5 years.

During my extensive teaching career, I have developed a substantial bank of strategies and resources to fit the needs and strengths of individual students. My aim is to make my lessons enjoyable and, above all, maximise effective learning. I am patient, enthusiastic and always looking for new ways to enrich my students’ learning and experience of the subject.

When I’m not tutoring or looking after my young daughter, I love doing sports and outdoor activities such as swimming and hiking.
