Being a secondary school teacher has made me more than someone who just teaches in the classroom.

  • 13+ Geography
  • GCSE Geography
  • A Level Geography

I have taught students with varying degrees of SEN and take pride in being able to cater for the needs of students with ADHD, AHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia etc.. This ranges from students who are from year 7 to 13. This has allowed me to change my approach fo tutoring and teaching by creating resources which are adaptable to meet their needs. I have experience in teaching students with memory retention issues and this has led me to become a patient tutor as I am instead able to implement teaching skills which include mnemonics and imagery to help students memorise key facts and concepts. I use sentence starters for exam questions to ensure that students feel confident before starting a question, and then guide them throughout to answering them.

Having experience in teaching key stage three, GCSE and A Level in secondary schools, I know the tips and tricks students need to pass their Geography exams with flying colours. Having been an AQA examiner and currently being a teacher to 5 different year groups, I have the resources and knowledge to ensure students get those high grades. I have been tutoring for many years and am still teaching as a secondary school teacher and have taught over 700 students.

After graduating with a degree in BA Geography at King’s College London, I studied my PGCE at UCL, Institute of Education and completed placements in two outstanding schools. I was able to contribute to a journal article on the future of Geography which was published for the Geographical Association and had the opportunity to be an AQA examiner where I learnt all the tips and tricks every student needs to know. I joined a newly established secondary school where as the only Geography specialist, I began to plan a curriculum fit for the needs of my students. Since then I have taught over 700 students from Keys Stage 3 to A level, and completed my Masters in Development Education and Global Learning at UCL. I have been the head of Geography. While still teaching and tutoring, I am doing a PhD as the thrill of learning and teaching doesn’t make me stop.

Being a secondary school teacher has made me more than someone who just teaches in the classroom. I have learnt how to impact students’ lives but not being just someone who teaches them, but a lending ear and a shoulder to lean on. I always want to ensure that my students have the best resources and summaries of what they are learning. I always like to provide students with a knowledge organiser or any additional revision material that they can look back upon.

I was head of Geography teacher teaching Key stage 3, 4 and 5. I am doing a PhD. Aside from teaching and tutoring, I love travelling around the world, learning new languages and spending time with my friends and family.
