I have completed Keystone’s in-depth 7+/8+, 11+, and SEN training programmes and have a wide range of resources to help students with their studies. I can help students work towards specific exams and goals in addition to providing confidence boosts in subjects and supporting students with their ongoing learning. I am also able to provide Personal Statement guidance and subject specific expertise in Archaeology, Anthropology, and Museology.

I come from the North East of Scotland and undertook my secondary education at Robert Gordon’s College in Aberdeen. In my final year, I was awarded A grades in Advanced Higher Latin, Classical Greek, and History and obtained a place at Magdalen College, Oxford where I read Archaeology and Anthropology.

During my time at the University of Oxford, I was president of the University Archaeology Society and course representative. I also assisted with the interviewing process and spent the summer vacations on fieldwork in the UK and Cyprus.

I have completed a Master's in Heritage and Museum Studies at Universiteit Leiden, during which time I co-curated an exhibition on the role of women in the university and assisted with the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden’s Cyprus exhibition.

Prior to my time at Keystone, I worked as a political and cultural journalist, and art writer. I am currently pursuing a PhD in archaeology alongside my tutoring work.

“Alice has been a wonderful tutor for our 10 year old twins heading towards their 11+. She has a way of making their tutorial sessions fun but also incredibly helpful. I have noticed a huge increase in their confidence tackling both English and Maths under her care. I could not recommend her highly enough.”

“From striking up lively conversations, to diving deeper into the amazing world of English literature, Miss Alice has indeed piqued my interest in writing, speaking and appreciation of English works, as well as strengthened my understanding of various aspects of the learning of English.”
Parent
“Alice is a wonderfully engaging tutor who has completely changed our daughter’s online learning experience. We constantly hear how much fun each lesson with Alice has been and how she has made every subject more interesting to learn. It is fantastic to see a 9 year child, who had become disillusioned with remote learning over the course of a year, suddenly perk up and look forward to her sessions with Alice.”
Parent
“Alice is an extremely talented individual with the right balance of cerebral and emotional intelligence which is why my son really enjoys his lessons with her.”

I believe that the best education is one taught with passion. With a brief period as a home-schooled student, I appreciate the importance of adopting a style of teaching which best suits the student. I believe that children can learn best when they are taught with enthusiasm, and that setting clear expectations allows pupils to meet them.

My love of Vermeer was established early, when I was a semi-finalist on BBC Junior Mastermind at the age of ten, with the Dutch artist as my specialist subject. Since then, my interest in art and archaeology has grown, and I have volunteered at a range of museums and archives for over a decade, including the National Museum of Scotland, the Sir Duncan Rice Library, and the Haarlem Museum of Archaeology where I wrote the city’s first English children’s tour.

I am an active archaeologist, excavating across the UK and am currently working on my doctoral thesis. I have recently co-ordinated a successful NLHF grant application to return the Book of Deer to the North East of Scotland for the first time in several hundred years. As part of this project, I was involved in our first BBC Alba Documentary Air Toir Manachainn Dheir/The Lost Monastery of Deer in 2018, and our second - Larach Leabhar Dheir/The Missing Monastery broadcast in 2023. My site director and I are also featured on Aberdeen Art Gallery’s Podcast, talking about the 2022 excavation. We have also spoken at CA Live on the project. Following the successful 2022 excavation, we can confirm that the Monastery has now been found.

As of 2024 I am a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.
