I was born in Rome and have spoken both French and English from a very young age. I currently work as an IB teacher at one of the leading schools in London. My international background has enabled me to master four languages — French, English, Italian, and Spanish.
I graduated with first-class honours in English and French Literature from the Institute of Modern Languages at Milan University. I then pursued a professional diploma in Interpreting and Translation in Paris, and afterwards diplômée mention très bien in Language and French literature from La Sorbonne, Paris.
With over 20 years of experience as a trilingual tutor (French, English, and Italian), I have worked with students of all ages and cultural backgrounds. I specialise in tutoring university-level students in French and Italian language and literature, and I also support them in preparing applications for competitive Master’s programmes in France and Italy, including HEC, Sciences Po, ESCP, and Bocconi.
In addition, I collaborate with Sorbonne Abu Dhabi and the Paris-based philosophical journal Les Études philosophiques, translating scholarly articles from English and Italian into French. If you wish to explore more, here is the link for the publication:

I also work with Master’s students in Digital Humanities, providing advanced support in the editing and refinement of essays and research projects. This includes conceptual clarity, academic register, methodological coherence, and linguistic precision across interdisciplinary work combining philosophy and critical theory.
Furthermore, I collaborate with Save My Exams on the French IB programme, where I am involved in the development of revision notes and written academic materials, contributing to both content creation and authorship within the exam framework.
“I have to say that Nicoletta has been a fantastic support for our daughter over the last months. Her dedication to her work and heartfelt approach has allowed my daughter to grow in confidence in French and move forward in her I.B. course with a lot more fluidity. I speak on behalf of her when I say that her help has been invaluable. Her enthusiasm is quite infectious! I appreciate her giving her time over the summer to carry on with the tutoring - this will prevent gaps in the learning that naturally occur over the long summer break.”
“I am full of admiration for a student who faces his difficulties, works hard and intelligently delivers an oral exam of very high quality. Well done! Nicoletta, thank you so much for your support!”
“I’m delighted with how this is going and so is my daughter, so heartfelt thanks to Nicoletta for being so encouraging and thorough. Also her quick feedback is much appreciated as she is always keen to know how she’s done. We’re looking forward to going to France to practice as soon as we can!”
“...more than the grade though, it's the change in how my daughter feels about the subject that's stood out the most. She actually enjoys Italian now, which I genuinely didn't see coming a year or so ago. That's the part that's hardest to teach, and Nicoletta has managed it without it ever feeling forced. Just wanted to pass on a proper thank you to Keystone for matching us with her. Nicoletta has been wonderful with my daughter, and we feel very lucky to have found her.”
My rigorous academic background, combined with strong skills in literary criticism and analysis, has given me a deep and nuanced understanding of languages and literature. I bring this expertise to my teaching through a dynamic, focused, and practical approach that aims to make learning both effective and enjoyable. I am passionate about sharing my love for languages with my students, and I strive to make each lesson engaging, interactive, and intellectually stimulating.
I teach primarily on a one-to-one basis, but I also work regularly with small groups and have led numerous thematic workshops. I am fully equipped and experienced with all major online platforms, including Zoom, Skype, and Bramble, and I take pride in designing lessons that are tailored, responsive, and adaptable to each student’s needs.
I often return to ancient pedagogies and philosophers as a guiding source for my teaching approach. Their timeless wisdom reminds me that education is not merely the transmission of knowledge, but the awakening of curiosity, the cultivation of discernment, and the nurturing of a deeper connection to oneself and the world. This perspective reinforces my belief that effective teaching is not formulaic, but rooted in attentiveness, adaptability, and care.
The philosophy behind my teaching was well captured in an interview about my work as an IB teacher and tutor, published in La Repubblica on 19 April 2024. As I expressed there, ''teaching is not about filling a gap, but about preserving the desire for knowledge.'' At the heart of my approach is the conviction that what truly matters is not how smart you are, but where and in what you are smart.
My tutoring style is hands-on, patient, and empathetic. I am committed to helping each student reach their full academic potential, while also cultivating their confidence and enjoyment in the process. I place great importance on building a strong personal rapport with my students, understanding their learning styles, strengths, and areas for growth, so I can adapt my teaching accordingly. I also have experience in applying differentiated strategies to support students with dyslexia, Turner Syndrome, anxiety, ADHD, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
I have a varied group of students, ranging from 7 plus to GCSE, A levels , IB A French and Italian Lit , Ab initio Italian and French , IB B French and Italian, IB A French and Italian Lang and Lit HL and SL and Oxbridge candidates, university students to adults learning French, English and Italian.

Current collaboration with review Les Études Philosophiques (Paris) and Sorbonne Abu Dhabi on the translation of philosophical texts from English and Italian into French.
Languages, literature, and philosophy have always been at the heart of my life, not only professionally, but personally. They are my lifelong passions, and I often find myself unwinding by discovering new authors, revisiting old favourites, or attending theatre performances, where language comes alive through voice, gesture, and emotion. I also enjoy exploring the music and structure of unfamiliar languages, and I occasionally set myself the challenge of learning the basics of a new one. Recently, I’ve been dabbling in Portuguese and German, more for pleasure than fluency, but always with curiosity and delight.
Although I’ve lived in London for over thirty years and feel deeply connected to its vibrant cultural life, I remain very much continental in spirit. I have a deep love for Italian cuisine and enjoy cooking. Whenever possible, I return to Italy and France, which remain for me sources of inspiration, memory, and inner rhythm.
I am also the mother of two daughters who share my love for learning and debate. E. is currently studying at Cambridge University, and C. is at HEC in France. Our time together often becomes a rich and stimulating exchange of ideas: we discuss philosophy, literature, politics, and current affairs over long meals or walks. They challenge my views, introduce me to new thinkers and emerging trends, and our conversations often leave me both energised and deeply reflective. We regularly recommend books to one another, creating an ongoing dialogue across generations, disciplines, and languages , a truly enriching intellectual companionship that I cherish deeply.
In my quieter moments, I enjoy playing the violin, as a way of returning to a more instinctive, meditative form of expression. Music, like language, offers a space where thought and emotion meet in a different register. It’s not unusual for me to play a few bars in the evening, with our lively and slightly eccentric French dog curled up nearby, listening or occasionally howling in enthusiastic accompaniment. He reminds us, always, to keep a sense of humour and lightness, even in our most reflective moods.
