I am passionate about the process of learning and teaching.

Private Tutor, December 2016- Present
I have been helping children to achieve their learning goals in the subjects above. I have been focused in particular on pupils who require below:

  • 11+ support (English, Maths, Reasoning)
  • 13+ English, Science and Maths
  • GCSE Chemistry and Biology

Modern Languages Teacher and KS2 (unqualified teacher status): April 2015- August 2017

  • I was the subject co-ordinator for Modern Languages at Rathfern Primary School.
  • I taught Modern Languages across the school, ages 5-11.
  • I was responsible for creating and implementing the curriculum, policy and overall framework for Modern Languages within our school as there was nothing in place when I took on the role.
  • My greatest achievement is that after only six months in the role we had an OFSTED evaluation. My lessons were observed and my teaching was described by the OFSTED officer as ''exceptional''. The school overall received a rating of ''outstanding in all areas.''

I am also committed to academic excellence in myself as well as my students- for example, I recently gained entry to Graduate Entry Medicine (deferred) having sat the competitive UKCAT exam and gained an extremely high grade, in particular 890/900 on the quantitative reasoning section. I also recently sat Biology and Chemistry AS-Levels whilst working full-time and doing an MSc- this was challenging but I achieved two A grades! I have effective study skills and am keen to impart these skills to my students

MSc Psychology of Education, UCL

BA (Hons) Combined Honours (English Literature, Modern Languages and Psychology), Durham University: II:i

A Levels, St. Olave's Grammar School Orpington: Maths (A), English Literature (A), German (A)

I left school with 9 A*s and 3 As at GCSE and, following a selection exam, gained entry to one of the top grammar schools in the country for Sixth Form, where I attained all As at A-Level, including Maths, German and English Literature.
My natural interest in communication led me to pursue a BA in German, English Literature and Psychology at Durham University. Since then I have become committed to the study and practical application of learning and teaching. My MSc studies in the Psychology of Education at UCL have been invaluable in equipping me with a deep understanding of methodologies which foster the best learning possible, catered to individual learning styles.
This has been embedded in a practical sense through my tutoring and teaching experiences. I have thoroughly enjoyed tutoring children in preparation for their 13+ exams (Maths and Science) and iGCSE Science exams.

I am passionate about the process of learning and teaching.
I have 10 years of experience in teaching and
tutoring, and an MSc in Educational Psychology.

My approach is unique because I know that how a student feels as
they learn- self belief, curiosity, challenge, internal motivation- is
the determining factor in what leads to great educational
outcomes.

My sessions offer a space of a) structure and goal setting and
b) curiosity, compassion, room to experiment, make mistakes and
learn.

Whilst we engage in specific work on the curriculum, and in
the case of exam prep I actively teach using past
papers/exam prep tools, it’s my expertise in “learning” that
sets me apart from other tutors. When students work with
me, they learn how to achieve any learning goal, and these
skills will last them long past the exams.

I commit to supporting students to reach their highest
potential in the subject they choose, while recognising that
their inherent amazingness/potential is not dependent on
grades!

I am currently enrolled on a 'systemic thinking' training course, which offers me an understanding of the mind and nervous system's role in creating the best learning outcomes. I am passionate about what leads to sustainable growth for students. I take part in semi-professional dance classes; dance has always been my favourite hobby. I also love to write; last year I won a place on a competitive playwriting scheme at the Young Vic, and had a portion of my play performed. I am committed to my own growth- I love to challenge myself and move past my own limitations. I love learning!
