Now looking for a change, but looking to use my expertise as a Y6 and SATS specialist in a tutoring role.
With around ten years’ experience as a primary school teacher, I have worked with pupils across a wide range of abilities and understand that children make the best progress when teaching is carefully matched to their individual needs. My approach is supportive, patient and encouraging, while maintaining high expectations and a clear focus on progress. I aim to identify the specific gaps, misconceptions or barriers that may be holding a pupil back and use clear explanations, modelling and carefully structured practice to build both understanding and independence.
I place particular importance on developing pupils’ confidence. I want children to feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and attempting something they initially find difficult. At the same time, I believe tutoring should be purposeful and responsive, so I use ongoing assessment to adapt sessions and ensure that our time is focused on the areas where it can have the greatest impact. Above all, I aim to create sessions that are engaging, challenging and positive, helping pupils become more confident and successful learners.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and five-year-old daughter, whether that’s exploring London or enjoying family days out. I’m a keen reader and music lover, and I enjoy going to the cinema whenever I get the chance. I also play football regularly with friends, which is a great way to stay active and socialise.
