I have a calm, adaptable but thorough approach to tutoring sessions, aiming to ensure that each pupil has a secure understanding of the curriculum content and the detail needed to answer examination questions where appropriate.

As a prep school teacher for the last 18 years, I have a wealth of experience preparing children for the next stage of their education. Originally as a form teacher for Years 3 - 5, I taught all academic subjects before specialising in Maths from Years 5 - 8 as well as Reasoning in Years 5 - 6. I have also taught Science, History and Geography to Year 6.
Within my senior leadership role I was also responsible for overseeing 11+ preparation of a Year 6 cohort and have also in more recent years had the overview of the academic performance of all children from Years 5 - 8, whilst continuing to teach Maths and Reasoning.
I have experience of preparing children at 11+ and/or 13+ pre-assessment for the following schools; Alleyn's, Benenden, Bradfield, Brighton College, Charterhouse, Cranleigh, Downe House, Dulwich College, Emanuel, Epsom College, Eton, Harrodian, Harrow, Hurst, JAGS, KCS Wimbledon, Marlborough, Radley, St John's, St Paul's, Streatham and Clapham, Teddies, Trinity, Wellington, Westminster, Whitgift, Woldingham
After gaining a BA (Hons) in History at Royal Holloway, University of London, I completed my PGCE at the University of Cambridge and have been a teacher and a member of the senior leadership team at a leading London prep school for the last 18 years. During this time I have prepared children for competitive entry to senior schools (London day schools and boarding) for both 11+ and 13+ pre-test, including 13+ Common Entrance preparation. I have taught all year groups from Years 3 - 8, focusing in particular on Mathematics in Years 5 - 8 as well as Reasoning in Years 5 and 6.
I have a calm, adaptable but thorough approach to tutoring sessions, aiming to ensure that each pupil has a secure understanding of the curriculum content and the detail needed to answer examination questions where appropriate. Building a relationship with each child to enable them to develop both confidence and enthusiasm for their learning is at the heart of my tutoring sessions.
I have a two year old son and returned to work full time when he was eight months old so now having a break from full time prep school employment has allowed me to have maximum flexibility to be a mother whilst also continuing to teach/tutor, which I really enjoy. When not in London, I enjoy spending time in the mountains with family, walking or skiing and I also enjoy any opportunity I have to read or to cook.
