I have over three years' experience tutoring Mathematics up to A level and Statistics up to undergraduate level, alongside teaching appointments at both the University of Oxford and the University of Warwick.
Most recently, I worked as a full-time tutor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick, where I taught core mathematics and statistics topics including calculus, probability, algebraic methods and data interpretation. I led small-group teaching, provided one-to-one academic support, marked coursework and examinations, and delivered detailed written feedback to students. My teaching was recognised through a nomination for a departmental teaching award.
Previously, I taught the statistics component of the Quantitative Biochemistry module at the University of Oxford. I delivered teaching on topics including hypothesis testing, p-values, confidence intervals and statistical significance to undergraduate students, many of whom had little prior experience in statistics. Following positive student engagement, I was invited back to teach the module the following year.
Alongside my formal teaching, I have contributed to a range of academic support initiatives. At Warwick, I delivered weekly drop-in support through the Statistics Modules Assistance and Support Hub (SMASH), helping students across a range of mathematics and statistics modules. I also designed and delivered an A-level refresher session on vectors for first-year undergraduates, producing structured worksheets and supporting materials.
I have also gained valuable insight into assessment expectations through my experience marking university coursework and examinations. This has helped me develop a strong understanding of how solutions are assessed and how students can structure their work clearly to communicate their reasoning effectively.
Across these roles, I have taught students with a wide range of mathematical backgrounds, from those requiring support with foundational concepts to those working at an advanced undergraduate level. This has developed my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt my teaching to individual students’ needs.
I attended Watford Grammar School for Girls, where I achieved A* in Psychology and A grades in Mathematics and Economics at A level.
I graduated with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Statistics from Queen Mary University of London before completing an MSc in Statistics at the University of Oxford.
Whilst studying mathematics, I became particularly fascinated by statistics because of its real-world applications. This interest led me to undertake an MRes in Cancer Science at the University of Oxford, where I applied statistical methods in medical research investigating the early diagnosis of cancer.
Following my studies, I joined the University of Warwick as a full-time Statistics Tutor, having previously taught statistics to undergraduate students at the University of Oxford. I now have over three years' experience tutoring Mathematics up to A level and Statistics up to undergraduate level, alongside my university teaching. I hold Full Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in recognition of my commitment to inclusive and effective teaching and learning.
I enjoy helping students build confidence and develop a genuine understanding of mathematics and statistics. My aim is to make challenging concepts accessible, engaging and enjoyable, enabling students to achieve their academic goals.
My tutoring is centred on the individual student. I tailor each lesson to their strengths, areas for development, and learning style, whether the focus is building confidence, strengthening subject knowledge, or refining exam technique. I believe students learn mathematics most effectively when they understand the reasoning behind methods rather than simply memorising them, so I place a strong emphasis on developing deep conceptual understanding alongside structured problem-solving.
Lessons combine clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice, and carefully chosen questions that allow me to monitor understanding and adapt my teaching throughout. I also use real-world applications to demonstrate the relevance of mathematical ideas and bring mathematics to life. My lesson materials are carefully designed to be accessible and inclusive, drawing on guidance from the British Dyslexia Association to support readability through thoughtful use of colour, layout, and visual representations. Above all, I aim to create a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, develop confidence in their abilities, and become increasingly independent learners.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, feeding ducks, and drinking copious amounts of hot chocolate.
