I am a Geography specialist with experience teaching across GCSE, A Level and IB at King’s College School, Wimbledon, where I have worked for the past six and a half years. I have a strong track record of academic success, with over 90% of pupils achieving the top grades (A* at A Level, 7 at IB, and grade 9 at GCSE). I lead IB Geography provision and am an Edexcel and AQA examiner.
Alongside classroom teaching, I have extensive experience supporting students on a one to one basis through academic mentoring, including exam preparation, revision strategies, and developing confidence and independence in learning. My examining work strongly informs my approach to exam technique and assessment.
I have significant experience supporting students at key transition points, particularly 16+ entrance and Sixth Form transition, having overseen 16+ admissions at King’s College School. This has included reviewing applications, interviewing prospective students, and supporting their transition into a highly competitive academic environment.
In addition, I support students with university applications, including Oxbridge, Russell Group and US institutions, helping with personal statements and interview preparation.
While much of my experience is focused on 16+ and university entry, I apply the same structured and adaptable approach to a wide range of entrance examinations.
I am currently Acting Director of Mental Health and Wellbeing and a Geography teacher at King’s College School, Wimbledon, where I have worked for the past six and a half years. I teach across GCSE, A Level and IB, with consistently strong outcomes, and lead IB Geography provision.
Alongside this, I have held senior pastoral and leadership roles, including Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Head of Girls, and have been closely involved in 16+ admissions, reviewing applications and interviewing prospective students.
A significant part of my work involves supporting students individually through academic mentoring, including UCAS preparation, personal statements, and applications to Oxbridge, Russell Group, and US universities. My current role also draws heavily on pastoral expertise, helping students manage pressure, build confidence, and perform effectively in high-stakes academic environments.
Prior to joining King’s, I taught at Surbiton High School (2016–2019), where I delivered Geography across GCSE and A Level, contributing to excellent academic outcomes, while also working as an Academic Mentor and Assistant Head of Year.
I completed my PGCE in Secondary Geography at St Mary’s University, Twickenham (2015–2016). Before this, I worked at Coloma Convent Girls’ School (2014–2015) as a Teaching Assistant and part-time Geography teacher, which confirmed my decision to pursue teaching.
Earlier in my career, I worked as a Client Manager at Millward Brown (2012–2014), managing client projects, research, and data analysis, and completed a short-term placement at FTI Consulting in 2012. Following my undergraduate degree in Geography at King’s College London (2008–2011), I spent a year travelling.
My approach to tutoring has been shaped by extensive experience working with students across GCSE, A Level and IB, as well as supporting those applying to highly competitive universities. I am very aware that students learn in different ways, and I take time to understand how each individual thinks, what they find challenging, and what helps them to make progress.
I aim to create a calm and supportive environment while maintaining high expectations. I focus not only on developing subject knowledge and exam technique, but also on helping students to build confidence and approach their work with greater clarity and independence.
Alongside my academic teaching, my role in mental health and wellbeing means I am particularly attuned to the pressures students face. I support them to manage workload, cope with anxiety, and develop practical strategies so they can perform at their best.
My sessions are structured and purposeful, but also flexible. I adapt my approach depending on the student, using clear explanation, targeted questioning, and where appropriate, memory techniques and different ways of revisiting content. My aim is always to help students feel more secure in their understanding and more confident in their ability to succeed.
I will be leaving King’s College School, Wimbledon at the end of the academic year to focus on tutoring and educational support on a longer term basis. I am committed to building a consistent portfolio of students and developing long term working relationships.
Outside of tutoring, much of my time is spent with my twin daughters and our Springador. I enjoy running and long walks, often by the river, and value creating space for balance and reflection within a busy and demanding schedule.
