Secondary School Teacher:
Since I retrained as a teacher in 2014, I have taught in London secondary schools full time. These schools include the Green School, Saint Mark's Catholic School, Emanuel, Ibstock Place, and Marymount International. From 2014 to present I have taught French and Spanish from year 6 , through GCSE, to A Level, and have worked with the following exam boards: AQA, OCR, Edexcel, Cie IGCSE, IB Language and Literature.
Private tutor:
My tutoring experience includes home schooling as well as after school sessions, and I have tutored KS3, GCSE and A level/ IB Diploma.
I am a native speaker of French and Spanish, and qualified teacher of modern languages, experienced both with the British curriculum (GCSE and A level) and the International Baccalaureat.
I have been teaching full time in independent schools in London for the last eleven years. I grew up and worked in Spain, Italy, France and North America prior to retraining as a teacher. Prior to teaching I worked as a corporate relationship manager, with clients in Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, the UK and North America.
I stopped teaching full time in August 2025, in order to focus on tutoring.
I am also a parent, and as such focused on raising my family for six years from 2006.
My teaching focuses on accuracy, breadth of language, and analysis where literature or local knowledge are required. In developing linguistic skills, I use target language but I also use the pupil’s mother tongue knowledge to discern meaning, approach ambiguity, and identify patterns. I develop lessons around cultural content, including art, literature, history, and society.
My objective as a teacher is to give the student the skills to continue working at a high level independently, once the tutoring cycle is completed. My teaching is therefore aimed at ensuring the bases are solid and then challenging students with activities that stretch them.
I encourage retrieval, and challenge the student to reach an answer with minimum input from me (hints are a good 'memory aid'). I encourage students to make mistakes and I teach them to diagnose their mistakes methodically. I believe that we only internalise something when we are forced to grapple with it.
I have stepped away from full time teaching in order to enjoy more flexibility: I am a keen rower, cyclist, and hiker, so I am out on a boat or a bike most days. When the weather forbids an outing, I listen to a podcast or an audiobook while multitasking around the house. I make a point of reading ( or listening) in Spanish, French and Italian through the year.
